Subject: Public Media Camp Boston 2010: Things to do

Hi All,

We’ve been enjoying your twitter chatter (http://twitter.com/PubCampBoston) and can’t wait to meet you all in person at the pre-camp party at PRX(http://bit.ly/axBjct) on Friday, August 20. We hope you’ll RSVP to that if you haven’t already. Come prepared to drink, snack, and get in gear for Saturday.

Thanks PRX for hosting the pre-camp party!!!

Speaking of RSVP-ing, if you registered for the camp and can no longer attend for one reason or another, please, please let us know immediately by replying to this email. We have a waiting list at this point in some categories and would love to redistribute any unused slots to people who are on this list. If you find yourself unable to attend, never fear—the social media feeds should cover a lot of what happens—feel free to interact via those channels if you can’t be there in person, and to let other interested parties know that this is an option for them as well.

If you still are on board for Saturday, here are some things we urge you to do now rather than procrastinate about until the last minute:

  * Come up with a list of 3 issues, ideas, or questions that you would like to see explored on Saturday and then look here (http:// wiki.publicmediacamp.org/PubCampBostonSchedule) to see if they are represented on the schedule yet. If they are not, propose them immediately so that you know that they will be considered for the official agenda, and so that you stimulate other people to post their ideas. Also, be prepared to lead a discussion on the topic you're interested in--you don't need to be an expert, just passionate!

  * Charge the batteries for your camera, video camera, or audio recording device and have some space or media ready for capture. We will need everyone capable of doing so documenting their experience and uploading to our flickr and vimeo accounts (login info will be provided in next email.) Ditto with blogging, so sharpen your digital pencils now!

  * Dig around in your basement or closet for a power strip—WGBH does not have enough of these to meet our needs—and label it with your name.

  * Print out a hard copy of your resume for adding to the “expertise directory” that we will be creating onsite on Saturday.

  * Keep tweeting and following tweets and watching/contributing to our group mailing list: http://groups.google.com/group/pubmedia-boston

That’s it for now—stay tuned though—we’ll be sending out another dispatch early on Friday with logistical information and suggested rules of engagement.

Eagerly,

Public Media Camp Boston (un)Organizers
