Acne is far and wide the most annoying thing to happen to millions of teenagers around the world. The fact is that everyone wants to be pimple free, but few people actually are. There is a difference though between having a pimple and having a full blown acne breakout. The difference lies in how well some people take care of themselves as compared to others.

Acne sufferers are often miserable and unhappy, and there is a good reason why. Acne doesnt just bring along puss filled pores, and whiteheads every time it flares up. Acne causes low self esteem and general unhappiness because lets face it it is embarrassing to be out in public knowing your face looks pussy and unhealthy. Well, there are certainly many creams and acne treatments that can help you out. However, there are more holistic ways to have clear skin that you can try before you spend hundreds of dollars finding the exact right acne treatment. Dont forget, for most people it takes many different types of acne treatment before they find the right one that works for them. So, it could be years before you have clear skin. While you are trying though, you may consider doing these things as well.

By simply adding omega-3 fatty acids that are normally found in sardines, anchovies, salmon, and other seafood you can significantly reduce the amount and length of acne breakouts. This isnt to say that you will cure acne forever because depending on your genetics and hormones you can never completely cure acne. However, it will give new life to your skin by making it more acne free which is what you really want to begin with. If you are like most people and cant stand the thought of eating a sardine or anchovy there are plenty of omega-3 fatty acid supplements that will give you the right dosage so that you can get the minerals that you need to help with your acne.

Another food that instead of adding you may want to eliminate is dairy. Studies have shown that foods that have dairy in them such as milk and cheese actually promote acne. It may not be the case with everyone, but significant amounts of people can actually have too much dairy which in turn causes the acne. However, you definitely need your calcium so other choices are soy milk, tofu, green leafy vegetables, and nuts. They give you the calcium you need without giving you the extra acne causing problems that normal dairy has.

Lastly you want to make sure you get plenty of fiber found in whole grains, berries, cherries, and whole wheat. Fiber helps you to regulate your blood sugar just like insulin does for diabetics. Insulin has been found to help with acne breakouts, so just like this, fiber will keep your body healthy and give you the important antioxidants that are critical to having clear skin. It may just seem that eating healthy wont do any good but really, if you havent tried it, you may want to start. Acne doesnt have to be permanent and with adding the right vitamins, minerals, and nutrients to your body you can get rid of your acne and feel much better about yourself.
