For a time, wearing gold jewelries has been a trend. It is a status symbol and a sign of wealth. So, people try to have as much gold jewelries in their box as possible. Today, people have broadened their preferences when it comes to jewelries. They are no longer bound by the perception that the only way to look glamorous and elegant is by wearing gold jewelery.

First reason is practicality. People these days are more into having variation. They prefer being able to change from one jewelry to another every single day. Not too many people these days are willing to display the most valuable jewelries while they are walking a busy street on their way to work. Sterling silver allows them to be fabulous without attracting danger.

The tag for a single gold bracelet, can probably pay for an entire set of sterling silver jewelry which includes the earrings, necklace, ring and even bracelet. A typical 14 carat gold ring may cost $150 up to $200. On the other hand, you can find sterling silver ring which has the same design and intricacy for only $30 up to $60.
Third reason why sterling silver is popular is because of trend. These days, wearing gold is no longer too fashion forward. Aside from that, sterling silver has more contemporary designs. Fashion has embraced the use of this material for jewelries. Imagine, it looks okay if you wear quite a few bangles and bracelets at the same time if it is sterling silver, right? It is best if you wear your jewelry often. This may sound a bit weird but when you just keep it inside the box, it might just oxidize because of the atmosphere and that will require you to polish it more often. Wearing it can avoid such occurrence. When you do polish it, make sure that you are using the cleaner that is made for sterling silver. Use a clean polishing cloth too. It is not true that toothpaste is perfect for cleaning your jewelry. This might just scratch the silver which can make it look dull.
