*********************** ARTICLE START ***********************
Most people have probably entertained the idea of starting a home business at some point, but while we hear much about the pros and cons of working from home and how many different ways you can make money in your house, we dont often hear much about the full-time or part-time alternatives.

When you look for a traditional job as an employee, you know specifically how many hours you will be required to work at any point. For example, the job description might say 39 hours or 16 hours or whatever else is required, but when it comes to running a business from home it is down to you to decide how many hours will be suitable.

So you need to think carefully about your life and your requirements in order to make the right decision for you. Some people find the best way to get started in a home business is to start part time around their current employed position. For example you might try working for two hours each evening once you get in from work. Add in a few hours at the weekend as well and you can quite easily do a part-time, 16 hours a week business.

Other people work many more hours when they initially start. For example, they might work full-time, but that could be very different from doing a 9 to 5 job every weekday. It could mean a 7am start and they may not finish until late into the evening on some days. This is not ideal, but a home business does not always fit into a specific schedule. You might find you have to focus on doing a few 5 hour days and then throw in a 10 hour day to get a rush order fulfilled later at the weekend.

This makes it slightly tricky to figure out whether a part-time or full-time home business will suit you best. You will need to work out how much you can get done in a specific length of time and find the appropriate number of clients you need to cover your costs and make a profit.

The starting point should be to consider your current commitments in terms of current employment and in terms of your family life. If you have children at school that need dropping off and picking up, you will need to fit in your work schedule around this. The same applies to any other commitments you have, which cannot be moved or adjusted in any way.

The secret here is to remember that you are not restricted to 16 hours or 10 hours or however many hours others work. You get to decide how many hours you want to put in and you also get to work out whether a part-time or full-time business will be best for you. It might just take a while to figure out the best course of action for you, overall.

However, once you have figured out how much time you can dedicate and then chosen a business idea that you can seriously put your heart and soul into, there is nothing as satisfying as running a successful home business!
