Hello, PSL community,

Bit of a meta-question here. If we were to want to suggest behavioral changes to the PSL, such as a new syntax, where would be the best place to have that discussion? On the mailing list, or as an issue (not pull request) on GitHub?

We'd like to have something that is open to the PSL community for discussion.

This list or github issues are the closest thing to what you might be after.

Just from observation over 15+ years, things that include tech debt or scope obligation on project maintainers or those who consume or use the PSL, while well intended, don't often get much traction - most noatbly within the downstream who would need to implement whatever suggestions.

I would fear history repeating itself, but go for it.

I think a new syntax would be a good idea. We should make the list easier to parse and make it harder to introduce errors and then generate the old format and some variants from that. That also means we can add some more data to each entry like an abuse contact and more.

If you want to have a more synchronous venue. Freddy and I are hanging out at: https://matrix.to/#/#psl:mozilla.org

Simon it is great to have you and Frederic show up in the last year from mozilla so that the org could re-engage with the PSL after being absent for almost a decade.

This list or the github are public and open, and have accumulated participation from important stakeholders.

We want to ensure particupation in discussions - so as to avoid aome of the headwinds that what-wg or cabforum faced with, and, we are in the process of determining where PSL could have improved resourcing to do the things described along the years.

Before just starting some new place, especially one that is controlled by Mozilla unlike the PSL, let's discuss an alternative place to have the discussion.

Let us keep all the conversations out in the open here on this list or on github issues - so that the public participants on this list can see them with transparency.

I totally agree. Only if people have ideas that they feel could benefit from a synchronous discussion to congeal them into a better proposal for this list or to iron out obvious issues that would otherwise just result in a lengthy back and forth that option is available.

Thanks for the context, everyone. I appreciate that we're striving for transparency and openness on this project.

Given the nature of the change, and that input from other PSL-adjacent GitHub projects might be useful, using GitHub seems like the best idea.
