The USA edition of the OpenStreetMap conference is coming to Portland this October.
Last year the event was in Denver and there were quite a few people from the Public Lab and Grassroots Mapping communities. It would be great to see more of you there this year!
Talk proposals are due this Friday. Last year there were talks about MapKnitter, and balloon aerial mapping field techniques.

Could be cool to announce the Google import to that specific audience and discuss. Also a lot of infrared data is being produced now, whereas before it was just a proof of concept. Finally, its just a good excuse to go fly kites/balloons with other PLOTS folks!

Maybe we could do a talk on how once you stitched a map in mapknitter, you can trace it in OSM?

hey folks, i'd love to submit this talk with anyone else who is interested --
Mathew, i think you'll go because you're based in Portland -- anyone else want to jump in on this?

Ok-- given that the two of us have worked on flying weird kites and balloons in difficult places, I would be interested in doing an overview of our flight toolkit and other low-altitude imagery techniques, as they relate to goals of accessiblity, as well as our software workflow and osm interties.  How many words do we need? 200?
