EcoHackNYC II one week away

Dear all,
Hope the weekend is going well. This is a reminder that next Friday night, and all day Saturday and Sunday, a great bunch of folks and orgs will be getting together to hack software and hardware for the environment. "EcoHack" is public, free, and hosted at Parsons the New School for Design -- 6 E. 16th street, 12th floor, Manhattan.

There will be many inspiring (short) talks to hear on Friday night, and fun project teams to join on Saturday.

One particular project that the Public Lab community will be working on with the Air Quality Egg community is how to add sensors to -- and further stabilize -- our tethered balloon platform. It would be awesome to have lots of folks help imagine and build this and fly three prototypes on Sunday (rain or shine). We will need lots of hands on Sunday so please consider adding this to your Earth Day activities. :)

This is related to Matthew's Research Notes on 19th Century military balloon technology you may have seen on the site, and there will be a small flurry of notes and wiki editing this week.

For those of you out of town it would be awesome to hear what you think generally & specifically of monitoring and broadcasting air quality, or adding additional tethers around the "equator" of our standard 5'5" red balloon, or any other ideas.
