Hi Public Laboratory, 

for those of you new to the list, I'm a organizer/developer with Public Lab in New York City. 

I'm forwarding an outreach message for my Public Lab-related New York City-based project, Dontflush.me. 

This project will install sensors in sewer outflow pipes as part of a public notification system. Through this notification system, NYC residents can reduce their wastewater production before and during an overflow event.

Also Leif - the dials at the top of dontflush.me are awesome -- but without being able to see the "history" i'm a little less inclined to think they're actually live. I mean, i know your project so I assume they are, but is there a link to the Pachube feed or whatever which you could put up there so people can click through and see how recently it was not "safe to flush"?

yes, very cool Leif.  Could you also add the number "0" if it has not rained in the area of interest on the map?  Right now it says "There have been inches of rain in your area today" and while I think it mean 0 inches of rain, it could also mean there it rained quite a bit, inches, in fact.

Group tours:

We welcome visits from professional groups, civic clubs, and especially interested MWRA customers. Reservations and I.D. are required.

Individual/public tours:

The MWRA offers public tours of Deer Island on the first Tuesday of each month from April through early November beginning at 9:30 a.m. Reservations and I.D. are required.

Age restrictions:

Our tours take visitors to the heart of a working treatment plant filled with heavy machinery. For the safety of our visitors and our staff, we must restrict our tours to students in Grade 7 or above. Those interested in visting the plant with children in grades 6 or below are encouraged to try our Deer Island Scavenger Hunt.

All tours of Deer Island are suspended when the United States National Security Level reaches Code Orange.
