Hi Sarah
Thanks for your feedback. I would be really interested in contact details for Bronwyn Hegarty and I am keen to follow up with her about trying to get a copy of her PhD. Thanks for thinking of me!
Helen
Hi Sarah and Bronnie,
I am currently in Weipa in far north Queensland, and there have been a few distractions, but the boys have all gone fishing today and I am happy to sit at the computer for a few hours.

Week 3 is perhaps a little easier for me, as I have already got the publication of the article sorted out. That’s why I am doing week 3 before week 2, but I will get on to week 2 right now.
I have had an abstract accepted for a book that will be published later in the year. My chapter must be no more than 4500 words (including references) and it needs to be submitted by the end of September 2011.
In Australia, we have just had a change to the ERA ranking system and we don’t need to worry about this part any more, as the rankings will be removed. I do support open access journals, but I am not sure if I will agree to pay money to get my paper published. One journal I looked at charged $750 US to publish an article, and an extra $450US to review it within 3 months. This is way beyond the means of a poor PhD full-time student!
The information from Linda about the word count is very useful. I hadn’t thought about it in this way before, but deconstructing the paper into these sections is very helpful.
