| Hello Everyone, The City Administrator, Dan Lindheim, is proposing to the City Council on Tuesday the elimination of 11 positions in the Neighborhood Services Division, specifically: 4 - Neighborhood Services Coordinators (NSCs), who I believe work with our NCPCs and Neighborhood Watch Groups. 5 - Police Services Technicians (PSTs), who I believe work with our Neighborhood Watch and Merchant Watch Programs. 2 - Program Analysts, who I believe supervise the NSCs and PSTs. The effect of these cuts will be to eviscerate (KILL) the Neigborhood Services Program and community policing in Oakland. I urge you to weigh-in on these proposed cuts, and you can weigh-in in two ways: First - Send an e-mail to our Mayor, our City Administrator, our 7 City Councilmember, our City Attorney, and our City Auditor and just say "NO" to these proposed cuts. E-mail addresses follow: OfficeOf...@oaklandnet.com DLin...@oaklandnet.com JBru...@oaklandnet.com JQ...@oaklandnet.com LR...@oaklandnet.com DBr...@oaklandnet.com PKern...@oaklandnet.com NNa...@oaklandnet.com RKa...@oaklandnet.com JRu...@oaklandcityattorney.org CR...@oaklandnet.com Second - Attend the City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 and speak out against the proposed cuts. The City Council meeting starts at 5:00pm. The cuts are on the Council Agenda (view the reports) as ITEM #4. Fill out a speaker's card on-line at the City of Oakland website before the meeting, or fill a speaker's card out at the City Council meeting before the meeting begins. ITEM #4 will come up after 5:00pm, but I cannot tell you exactly when because it depends how quickly the Council gets through its agenda to ITEM #4. I recommend you be there as early as possible.
