Michael Ivey, the President of Twitpay sent this along to me. Unfortunately, my new station isn't in a Twitter Community (we're much more Facebook oriented up here in Binghamton, NY) so I don't think WSKG would be a successful test station for something like this.
I know Twitpay came up a few weeks ago during PubMedia Chat, but I can't for the life of me remember who was asking about it.
If you or anyone you know might be interested, please let me know! I'd like to respond to Michael with some suggestions of other stations/organizations and their contact info.
Thanks!
Amy

Hi Amy, sounds like you've settled in well in Binghamton. Are you loving the new station?
As I mentioned, Twitpay has launched a service for non-profit fundraising over Twitter, called RT2Give. You can see it in action at http://rt2give.com.
RT2Give combines the simplicity of mobile payments with the power of social networks, at a lower cost than most online fundraising options. A request for donation is sent out over Twitter, and supporters can respond with a retweet to donate. Not only does this initiate the donation, it also also spreads the request out to the donor's network, where it can be retweeted again.
Donation requests can come from the main NPO account, a celebrity partner, or the NPO can open it up so they can come from any supporter. All of the campaign settings can be managed from a simple to use web application. We track the responses, confirm the donations, and provide public statistics on how well the campaign is going. The funds clear quickly, usually within 3 business days. As you may know, other mobile giving solutions can take weeks or even months to deliver the funds.
We're working with several major NPOs to launch emergency response and health & welfare campaigns, but we're really interested in getting in touch with some other types of NPOs, especially public broadcasting stations.
I'd love to talk to you about how the system works and see if WSKG would be a good fit as a trial run for station fundraising using RTs. Assuming it is, we'd love to do a joint case study with you and publish it for other stations, and take it to NPR/CPB/PBS to see about making the system available nationally.
Sound interesting? Even if you don't think WSKG is an appropriate fit for a trial, I'd really value your feedback on how this system could work for public broadcasters.
Thanks, and talk to you soon!
