Last week I had a problem with the flags.dbf causing me problems logging
into GoldMine. As it turned out, the network had a lock on the file and
when I rebooted the server, my problem was solved.

Well, it has come up again today. Once again, I can not log in,
probably due to a lock placed in the flags.dbf file. Is there something
within GoldMine that could be causing this to re-occur? I am sure if I
kick everyone off the network and reboot that I can correct the
flags.dbf file. I would just like to know how to keep this from
happening again since it seems to be becoming a familiar event. Thank
you for your help.

I just thought of something. The lock occurrs after that user has
syncronized data over the network. Could that have something to do with
it? Do I need to post this on the sync news group?

What kind of a network are you on? Please provide specifics about your
environment.

NT network. I have NT on the server, two workstations on NT, and one on
Windows 98. Of the two laptops, one is on Win98, and the other is on
Win95. I just thought of something. I am probably logged into GM on the
workstation when I do a remote sync on the laptop. Could that be
generating the problem with the flags? That would make sense to me.
Thanks for your help.

Its possible, assuming you have the following entry in your GM.INI file.

[GoldMine]
Exclusive=1

You should check to see which user has the lock on the file via the
Server Control Panel on the NT server the next time you get the message.

BTW, which service pack are you running?
