Vă mulțumesc pentru email și îmi cer scuze pentru răspunsul întârziat.
Aș vrea să dau lămuriri suplimentare asupra modului în care abordez realizarea lucrării de diplomă. Abordarea mea este legată de nevoia de colaborare transparentă pe lucrările științifice, ce ar trebui să înceapă încă de la prima lucrare științifică a studentului - pentru foarte mulți, lucrarea de licență. Din păcate, România nu are un sistem general de asigurare a transparenței și de împiedicare a plagiatului, mai ales la acest nivel. Eu vreau să pot demonstra tot ce am făcut în această lucrare de licență, mai ales că subiectul ales vrea să susțină crearea de date deschise pentru cercetare, începând cu treapta de bază: termenii medicali (pentru început, cei de histologie). De aceea, vreau să păstrez un standard cât pot de ridicat în privința transparenței muncii mele efective și a tuturor colaborărilor pe acest subiect. Orice sfat în această problemă este binevenit.
Pentru transparentizarea colaborărilor:
cea mai ușoară, ieftină și eficientă metodă pentru a menține transparentă o colaborare publică este prin email. Ar fi și mai bine dacă email-urile folosite ar fi cele atribuite de instituție și nu cele private, dar U.M.F. “Carol Davila” încă nu are acest lucru pus la punct din păcate. De asemenea, prin folosirea instrumentelor online, care asigură conexiunea dintre munca efectuată și identitatea persoanei (în general, prin adresa de email) - Google Docs pentru documente, GitHub pentru munca de programare de exemplu.
fiecare email să aibă o parte terță adăugată ca destinatar, ce reprezintă publicul (fiindcă vorbim de o instituție publică): adresa de email a unui grup public sau persoană; de preferat ar fi totuși un forum oficial al instituției, în care să aibă loc aceste discuții.
Pentru lucrarea mea, aș vrea să mențin colaborarea cel puțin într-o limbă internațională. Am ales limba engleză fiindcă este foarte răspândită în mediul academic online și este limba oficială a proiectului (Sapiens Mapping Project) care a intermediat preluarea datelor oficiale pentru Terminologia Histologica în limba latină și engleză, de care am amintit în email-ul anterior. De aceea, aș prefera un coordonator care poate scrie într-o limbă internațională (nu neapărat (dar preferabil) engleză), pentru a nu face personal munca de traducere, sau cel puțin un coordonator care poate citi email-urile mele în engleză (pentru a nu fi nevoită să traduc și această parte).
De asemenea, intenționez să realizez lucrarea inițial în limba engleză.
Cred că această abordare este una foarte sănătoasă și rezonabilă. Lucrarea de licență reprezintă un standard de la care pleacă toate celelalte și vreau să ajut prin exemplu la ridicarea acestuia.
În lumina a ceea ce am spus și a email-ului meu anterior, voi răspunde email-ului dumneavoastră:

Am trimis pe aceeași adresă de email, pe care am trimis și ultimul email. Email-ul sigur a fost trimis, fiindcă domnul Tzurcanu, adăugat în lista destinatarilor, a primit mesajul. Problemele au apărut cel mai probabil la contul dumneavoastră de primire (poate email-ul a ajuns în folderul de Spam etc.).

Tocmai din acest motiv este mult mai eficientă o colaborare care nu necesită întâlniri la ore fixe și prin care se poate urmări întreg procesul de la început până în prezent. Nu sunt împotriva unei întâlniri fizice, dar orice discuție despre lucrarea de licență sau stabilirea întâlnirilor de discuție aș prefera să fie realizate în scris.

Acum să vă spun în ce stadiu sunt cu lucrul:
am făcut o primă traducere neoficială a celor aprox. 4000 de termeni, cu intenția colaborării cu un expert în domeniu, pentru a-i corecta ( https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlGtDMuhK2dndHpnQTdZTU1CUUoxeHpTWTFqTmpRRXc&usp=drive_web )
a trebuit să renunț la această idee și am început colectarea termenilor histologici folosiți în publicațiile din România și legarea lor de termenii oficiali din Terminologia Histologica, cu referințe bibliografice. Am început cu http://www.callisto.ro/carte/histologie-tratat-si-atlas-junqueira--i1868.
am o bază de date făcută cu publicații cerute ca bibliografie în centre principale de educație medicală din țară (de stat): Cluj, Iași, Târgu Mureș. Restul, incluzând București (prin UMF “C.Davila”), nu oferă bibliografia online. Probleme:
cărțile nu există în format digital, făcând munca de extragere a termenilor foarte grea. Chiar și așa, dacă aș avea materialele necesare (cel putin 4 publicații), aș duce la sfârșit această abordare.
biblioteca UMF are oferte limitate în ceea ce privește manualele de histologie în limba română: tratatul de mai sus de Junqueira, “Histologie teoretică și practică” de M.Raica, Timișoara 2004 (acum există ediția 2009) și alte publicații mai vechi, ce nu pot fi luate în considerare pentru acest proiect.
am început lucrul în limbajul R ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R_(programming_language) ), făcând prima versiune de funcții pentru prelucrarea și prezentarea bazelor de date ( din format mysql în formatul R ), traducere automată a cuvintelor (link către muncă la cerere, sau în momentul colaborării oficiale cu coordonatorul).
am început documentarea despre conceptele de: date deschise, computabilitate a termenilor.
Am ales limbajul R fiindcă este folosit în multe cercuri științifice, pentru prelucrarea datelor deschise. Inclusiv Guvernul României are în plan formarea oamenilor pentru a folosi R în proiectele de date deschise.
Am nevoie de ajutor cu:

O colaborare eficientă nu cred că ar lua foarte mult timp unui coordonator interesat, atâta timp cât mi se respectă alegerea procesului de colaborare. Menționez că implementarea efectivă în R nu îmi face probleme, având un background în informatică ( CV-ul meu: http://sliced.ro/docs/docs/CVvar2.1.pdf )
Totuși, dat fiind programul dumneavoastră încărcat, vă rog să-mi spuneți dacă sunteți dumneavoastră interesată să-mi coordonați lucrarea de licență în condițiile de mai sus sau îmi propuneți și îmi faceți legătura cu un alt membru al disciplinei. Imediat după luarea deciziei, voi creea un spațiu cât mai eficient pentru colaborare și voi prezenta munca efectivă de până acum (documente, baze de date, fișiere de cod în R etc. ).
Voi trimite traducerea în limba engleză a email-ului prezent în două zile, cu mențiunea că voi continua discuția direct în aceasta limbă, pentru eficiență.
Adaug ca destinatar un grup public de discuții, conform celor spuse mai sus și vă rog să dați Reply All, pentru a-l include automat în email-ul dumneavoastră.

Din cauza faptului că site-ul oficial al U.M.F. “Carol Davila” ( http://www.umfcaroldavila.ro/ ) nu conține detalii despre membrii și reprezentanții disciplinei “Marketing, Tehnologie și Informatică Medicală”, adresa dumneavoastră o am de la Șeful Disciplinei menționate anterior, Conf. Subiectul ales poate să fie plasat în cadrul a două discipline: Biologie Celulară și Informatică Medicală. Dat fiind faptul că reprezentanții disciplinei “Medicină Celulară și Moleculară. Medicina Dezvoltării Umane” se consideră puțin depășiți de subiectul meu, m-am hotărât să mă adresez disciplinei “Marketing, Tehnologie și Informatică Medicală”. Menționez că după terminarea facultății voi lucra în domeniul cercetării medicale și informatice. Din 23 Octombrie sunt în discuții cu membrii și reprezentanții disciplinei “Medicină Celulară și Moleculară. Metodologia, pe scurt:
voi compila o traducere a termenilor latini din TH din traducerea exactă a cuvintelor (latină->română), utilizând dicționare deja alcătuite și referențiabile online.
voi corecta manual traducerea de la punctul 1., pentru greșeli de formă a cuvintelor
voi compila traducerea în limba română a termenilor din TH, așa cum sunt ei folosiți în acest moment; aici ar fi fost nevoie de ajutor histologic specializat, dar m-am hotarât pentru alcătuirea unei baze de date cu referințe bibliografice ale fiecărui termen din Terminologia Histologica, așa cum apare el în publicațiile românești importante, specifice centrelor universitare medicale mari.
voi alcătui o variantă proprie de traducere, care să respecte principiile computabilității, bazată pe traducerea avizată de la punctul 3 și instrumentele lingvistice existente; cele mai importante principii sunt : eliminarea, pe cât posibil, a cuvintelor de legătură, crearea unui raport de 1:1 între cuvintele latine și cele românești, dintr-un termen, folosirea aceluiași sinonim (cel mai potrivit) în toata terminologia, apropierea, pe cât posibil, de traducerea directă din limba latină.
voi compara toate aceste variante de traducere (translation statistics), demonstrând că propunerea mea va avea maximul de computabilitate; voi demonstra valoarea existenței unei asemea traduceri, în contextul creării unei surse online oficiale unice a termenilor științifici, care poate oferi referință fiecărui termen, conectându-l cu traducerile sale în alte limbi, conferind reproductibilitate calitativă unui text științific. Lucrările științifice s-ar putea actualiza în mod automat, din punct de vedere al terminologiei, în cazul schimbării acesteia.
varianta propusă de mine va fi făcută publică și deschisă către peer-review, pentru îmbunătățire și corectare.
Limbajul folosit în prelucrarea datelor: R language. Voi face o librarie în R cu termenii din Terminologia Histologica în latină, engleză și traducerile în limba română, pentru mentenanță si update colaborativ. API-ul va fi public.

Due to the fact that the official site for U.M.F. “Carol Davila” ( http://www.umfcaroldavila.ro/ ) does not have details about the members and reprezentatives of the “Marketing, Technology and Medical Informatics” Discipline, I have your email address from the Head of the aforementioned Discipline, Conf. My subject can be part of two disciplines: Cellular Biology and Medical Informatics. Due to the fact that the reprezentatives of the “Cellular and Molecular Medicine. Human Development Medicine” Discipline consider that they do not have the necessary expertise for my subject, I decided to also address the “Marketing, Technology and Medical Informatics” Discipline. I want to mention that after graduation I plan on working in the medical and computer programming field of research. The methodology , in short :
I will compile a translation of the Latin terms from TH using the exact translation of the words (Latin -> Romanian ), using online dictionaries and linguistics references already existing.
I will manually correct translation from point 1. , for mistakes on the form of words
I compile the Romanian translation of TH terms as they are currently used. This is where I needed histological educated help. However, I have decided on making a database with bibliographical references for every TH term, as it appears in important Romanian publications, from the big medical university centers.
I will create my own translation, which will respect the computability principles, based on the approved translation from point 3 and the existing linguistic tools. The most important principles are : to eliminate as far as possible the linking words, creating a ratio of 1:1 between Romanian and Latin words from a term, using the same synonym ( the best one ) throughout the terminology, respecting the direct translation from Latin.
I will compare all these variants of translation (translation statistics), showing that my proposal will have maximum computability. I will demonstrate the value of the existence of such a translation, in the context of creating a single official online source of scientific terms, which can provide reference for each term, connecting it with its translations in other languages, giving qualitative reproducibility of scientific text. The scientific papers should be able to automatically update the official terms included, in case of change of terminology.
My proposed version will be made public and open to peer review for improvement and correction.
Language used in data processing: R language. I will make a R library with the terms from Terminologia Histologica in Latin, English and the Romanian translations, for maintenance and collaborative update. The API will be made public.

Thank you for your email and I apologise for my delayed response.
I want to give some details about how I plan to tackle my graduation thesis. My approach is linked to the need for transparent collaboration in scientific research, which should begin from the student’s first scientific paper - for many, the graduation thesis. Unfortunately, Romania does not have a general system for assuring transparency and preventing plagiarism, especially for this level. I want to be able to demonstrate all I have done in this graduation thesis, particularly because my chosen subject wants to aid the creation of open data for research, beginning with the basics: the medical terms (for starters, the histological terms). That is why, I want to maintain the highest standard possible regarding the transparency of my actual work and of every collaboration on this subject. Any advice on this issue is welcomed.
To make collaboration transparent:
the easiest, cheapest and most efficient method to maintain the transparency of a public collaboration is through email. It would be better if the email addresses used would be those assigned by the institution and not private ones. Unfortunately, U.M.F. “Carol Davila” does not have this aspect straighten out. Also, through using online tools which assure the connexion between the work and the identity of the person doing the work (in general, through the person’s email address) - Google Docs for documents, GitHub for programming for example.
each email should have a third party added as a recipient, which represents the public (because we are talking about a public institution): the email address of a public group or a person; however, it is preferable to use an official forum belonging to the institution for these discussions.
For my thesis, I want to maintain collaboration in at least an international language. I have chosen the English language because it is widely spread in the academic online environment and it is the official language of the project (Sapiens Mapping Project) which has mediated the acquisition of the official data for the Terminologia Histologica in Latin and English, mentioned in my previous email. That is why I would prefer a coordinator who can write in an international language (not necessary (but preferably) English), so I would not have to make the effort to translate the discussions, or at least a coordinator who can read my emails in English (so I would not be forced to translate them).
In addition, I intend to initially write the thesis in English.
I think that this approach is a very sane and reasonable one. The graduation thesis represents a standard for the following research papers and I want to help through personal example to raise this standard.

I was forced to renounce this idea and I have begun collecting the histological terms used in Romanian publications and linking them to the official terms from the Terminologia Histologica, with bibliographical references. I have a database of publications required as bibliography in the major centers for medical education in the country: Cluj, Iași, Târgu Mureș. The rest, including Bucharest (through UMF “C.Davila”), does not offer online bibliography. Problems:
the books do not exist in digital format, making the process of extracting the terms very difficult. Even so, if I had the necessary materials (at least 4 publications) I would successfully finish this approach.
the UMF “Carol Davila” library has limited offers in what the Romanian Histology textbooks are concerned: the aforementioned atlas by Junqueira, “Histologie teoretică și practică” (Theoretical and practical histology) by M. Raica, Timișoara 2004 (the 2009 edition exists now) and a few other older publications, which cannot be taken in consideration for this project.
I have begun my work in R language (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R_(programming_language) ), making the first version of functions for analysing and presenting the databases (from mysql format to R format), and for automatic word translation (link to my work on request or when the official collaboration with a coordinator will start).
I have begun documentation on the concepts of: open data, term computability.
I have chosen the R language because it is used in many scientific circles for analysing open data. Even the Romanian Government has a plan to train people to use the R language in projects regarding open data.
I need help with:

At Dr. Iliuta’s request, I restated my purpose regarding the thesis and possible applications for the thesis outcome.
We discussed the fact that I will write the thesis in English and Romanian, due to the fact that U.M.F. “Carol Davila” permits English submissions only for the English module, for foreign students.
Being asked about my future plans and future affiliation, I restated my plans of working in the medical informatics research field, even though I do not plan on becoming part of U.M.F. “Carol Davila”.
Dr. Iliuta has restated that she will coordinate my graduation thesis, with the help of Dr. Marius Albu and that she has contacted members from the "Cellular and Molecular Medicine” Department to inquire about current Romanian publications, for my Romanian version of the Terminologia Anatomica.
Having to submit an application with the title, coordinator, signatures and stamps from the coordinator and department, to the Secretariat of the Faculty (which will go the the Dean’s Office), I will meet Dr. Iliuta at the Biostatistics and Medical Informatics Office on Thursday, 30 Jan, 12:20 pm, to sign my application. Also, Dr. Iliuta gave me the email of one of the persons in charge of stamping the applications for the “Marketing, Technology and Medical Informatics” Discipline ( oba...@yahoo.com ). I can also have the application scanned in order to have a proof of submission.
I will send an email on Wednesday 29 Jan to reconfirm Thursday’s meeting.

Metodologia, pe scurt:
voi compila o traducere a termenilor latini din TH din traducerea exactă a cuvintelor (latină->română), utilizând dicționare deja alcătuite și referențiabile online.
voi corecta manual traducerea de la punctul 1., pentru greșeli de formă a cuvintelor
voi compila traducerea în limba română a termenilor din TH, așa cum sunt ei folosiți în acest moment; aici ar fi fost nevoie de ajutor histologic specializat, dar m-am hotarât pentru alcătuirea unei baze de date cu referințe bibliografice ale fiecărui termen din Terminologia Histologica, așa cum apare el în publicațiile românești importante, specifice centrelor universitare medicale mari.
voi alcătui o variantă proprie de traducere, care să respecte principiile computabilității, bazată pe traducerea avizată de la punctul 3 și instrumentele lingvistice existente; cele mai importante principii sunt : eliminarea, pe cât posibil, a cuvintelor de legătură, crearea unui raport de 1:1 între cuvintele latine și cele românești, dintr-un termen, folosirea aceluiași sinonim (cel mai potrivit) în toata terminologia, apropierea, pe cât posibil, de traducerea directă din limba latină.
voi compara toate aceste variante de traducere (translation statistics), demonstrând că propunerea mea va avea maximul de computabilitate; voi demonstra valoarea existenței unei asemea traduceri, în contextul creării unei surse online oficiale unice a termenilor științifici, care poate oferi referință fiecărui termen, conectându-l cu traducerile sale în alte limbi, conferind reproductibilitate calitativă unui text științific. Lucrările științifice s-ar putea actualiza în mod automat, din punct de vedere al terminologiei, în cazul schimbării acesteia.
varianta propusă de mine va fi făcută publică și deschisă către peer-review, pentru îmbunătățire și corectare.
Limbajul folosit în prelucrarea datelor: R language. Voi face o librarie în R cu termenii din Terminologia Histologica în latină, engleză și traducerile în limba română, pentru mentenanță si update colaborativ. API-ul va fi public.

This is Loredana Cirstea, 6th year student at U.M.F. “Carol Davila”, General Medicine and I am writing in regard to my graduation thesis: “Algorithm of translation in the Romanian language for the Terminologia Histologica and APIs for a controlled vocabulary”.
Due to the fact that the official site for U.M.F. “Carol Davila” ( http://www.umfcaroldavila.ro/ ) does not have details about the members and reprezentatives of the “Marketing, Technology and Medical Informatics” Discipline, I have your email address from the Head of the aforementioned Discipline, Conf. Dr. Purcarea Victor Lorin. Unfortunately, your exact official position has not been given to me, therefore please correct me if I have addressed you incorrectly.
My subject can be part of two disciplines: Cellular Biology and Medical Informatics. Due to the fact that the reprezentatives of the “Cellular and Molecular Medicine. Human Development Medicine” Discipline consider that they do not have the necessary expertise for my subject, I decided to also address the “Marketing, Technology and Medical Informatics” Discipline. I will attach details regarding the thesis subject at the end of the email, also giving details about the methodology I am using.
I want to mention that after graduation I plan on working in the medical and computer programming field of research. I have started working on this project for 1-2 years, inside the Sapiens Mapping Project ( http://sliced.ro/docs/about.php ). From the 23rd of October I am in discussions with the “Cellular and Molecular Medicine. Human Development Medicine” Discipline members and reprezentatives, for finding a coordinator for my thesis, without positive results.
Because this project is part of the Sapiens Mapping Project, all collaboration will respect the general principles of the SMP ( http://sliced.ro/docs/collab.php ). In short, the transparency rules impose written conversations, preferably on email, in the English language. This is why I will translate this conversation in English and I will add the Project Leader of the SMP to the receiver’s list.

The methodology , in short :
I will compile a translation of the Latin terms from TH using the exact translation of the words (Latin -> Romanian ), using online dictionaries and linguistics references already existing.
I will manually correct translation from point 1. , for mistakes on the form of words
I compile the Romanian translation of TH terms as they are currently used. This is where I needed histological educated help. However, I have decided on making a database with bibliographical references for every TH term, as it appears in important Romanian publications, from the big medical university centers.
I will create my own translation, which will respect the computability principles, based on the approved translation from point 3 and the existing linguistic tools. The most important principles are : to eliminate as far as possible the linking words, creating a ratio of 1:1 between Romanian and Latin words from a term, using the same synonym ( the best one ) throughout the terminology, respecting the direct translation from Latin.
I will compare all these variants of translation (translation statistics), showing that my proposal will have maximum computability. I will demonstrate the value of the existence of such a translation, in the context of creating a single official online source of scientific terms, which can provide reference for each term, connecting it with its translations in other languages, giving qualitative reproducibility of scientific text. The scientific papers should be able to automatically update the official terms included, in case of change of terminology.
My proposed version will be made public and open to peer review for improvement and correction.
Language used in data processing: R language. I will make a R library with the terms from Terminologia Histologica in Latin, English and the Romanian translations, for maintenance and collaborative update. The API will be made public.
