Hi,

We have four Authoritative Nameservers.  Tree Authoritative Nameservers support ECS and one not. When we changed all Authoritative Nameservers to support  ECS. The requests of google public dns increased 10 times. Why?

When ECS is enabled for a nameserver for a domain, caching occurs only for clients within the covered IP range; as a result many other clients' queries will not be answered from cache even when we have already received a response for a domain name.  The responses from the one nameserver without ECS were being used as cached data for all client queries, keeping the query load much lower for you (but disabling the GeoIP functionality you presumably want). Once you enabled ECS for the last nameserver, there were no longer any cached replies without ECS limitations, and the query rate increased because of this (note that the query rate still seems to be very low).
