I started personally using the Google public DNS when it was
announced. We have seen on occasion that our domain "ibsgroup.org" is
not resolving while using this DNS. Upon changing our resolv.conf to
OpenDNS we were able to resolve without any issue.

We have not made any changes to our DNS for at least 1 year. Why
might Google suddenly stop resolving a known established domain?

The latest failure was December 13, 2009 ~ 11:00pm EST

We have moved our servers back to OpenDNS until this issue is resolved.

Jeff--can you confirm that this is still happening to you?  If so, would you be able to provide the output of dig/nslookup/etc that shows the failure?  (FWIW, I don't see any failures at all for any name under ibsgroup.org in our logs, but would like to get to the bottom of this...)

Thanks!
Alex

Please note that OpenDNS, by default, wildcard's SERVFAIL, so if it
can't reach your authority it will still return a response!

Are you validating that OpenDNS's resolvers are actually returning the
correct IPs?
esolved.
