How can I change Windows 98 SE's DNS option into Google Public DNS. I
have used OpenDNS instruction for Ubuntu, Windows XP and Windows Vista
by editing the DNS code into Google Public DNS; however in windows 98
it did not worked... Any opinion?
OpenDNS Windows 98 page:
https://store.opendns.com/setup/operatingsystem/windows-98
On my Windows 98 SE machine, Control Panel / Network / Configuration
shows two "clients," 5 "adapters," and 24 (really!) networks, plus
"File and printer sharing." The first trick is to figure out which
network to select. The appropriate network will have a name that
begins with "TCP/IP" but doesn't say "Dial-Up Adapter" unless of
course you're still using a dial-up connection.
In the "DNS Connections" tab, the default is "Disable DNS"; that
doesn't really disable DNS, it disables manually specifying DNS
servers (getting them instead via DHCP). You have to click "Enable
DNS" before you can enter and add any DNS servers.
Hope this helps. --PSRC
