Hiding your IPS address

I am having a problem with someone who is putting my name on posts
that connect to porn sites. Wouldn't something like this enable them
to do more harm without tracing them back to their real IPS address?

Catherine, sorry to hear about your problems. Open resolvers (such as
Google Public DNS) don't hide your IP address. They also don't mask
your DNS requests any more than using your ISP's resolver.

In short, no. Hiding your IP will not affect the spammers ability to
use your name since it is not tied to your IP.

(also despite what many banner ads would have you believe your IP
is not all that relevant to much of anything from a security
standpoint, and
privacy stuff can easily be solved by using an anonymous proxy)
