NOTE: At the August meeting we will be selecting a title for October.
In an effort to encourage greater diversity in the topics we cover,
everyone (who plans to attend the August meeting) is encouraged to
select a paperback book currently in stock at P&P, with public affairs
implications, in either the Religion or Health/Health Care category,
to present at the meeting. All proposed titles, in addition to those
in the queue, will be considered.

22 August Selection: A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of
Genocide (Samantha Power)

26 September Selection: Murder City: Ciudad Juarez and the Global
Economy's New Killing Fields (Charles Bowden)

P.S. Thanks to all who participated in the discussion of Shock
Doctrine. Due... in large part... to our varied experiences and
backgrounds It was, indeed, a very lively -- and spirited --
discussion.

I've not yet checked to see whether PNP has these in stock but there
are two books on religion that sound interesting. The first is
"Faith in the Halls of Power: How Evangelicals Joined the American
Elite" which was referenced several times in a Washington Post
article. It talks about how past Presidents (Eisenhower) managed
their religious affiliations and how current candidates are treating
their religious connections. The second was recommended by a friend as
giving two competing views on the role of religion in America --
"American Grace -- How Religion Unites and Divides us". It sounded
great but he warned me that it is very large.
