Setting up the mic and it doesn't hear or recognise the microphone array. Can't use Cortana or Google speech (ok google on chrome). When looking at the settings and increasing microphone boost etc, it doesn't hear any sound. When setting up mic windows says it can't hear anything.

I uninstalled the audio devices from the device manager, rebooted, and in the sound settings, recording tab, you can see that the microphone is picking up the sound. But once I install the Realtek drivers, through the Intel Drivers and Support app, the microphones don't pick anything up. Without the realtek drivers, Google speech recognition works, but once the realtek drivers go on, it doesn't. Cortana doesn't work at all under any circumstance.

You need to right click the windows button and click on divice manager and the go click audio input and output then right click on Realtek Microphone Array then click on uninstall thats it after that you will need to restart you pc after 1 min.

I have found areportclaiming that the latest driver from Realtek that Windows installs (5/22/19 release)is problematic. It was claimed that the audio driver released in January 2019is the one that works.

I have the updated Realtek driver (both from Dell website and windows update). Also I checked my sound options. Only the laptop's microphone array is there. The earphones mic works perfectly on my phone. Generally in Dell's laptop, there used to be an audio driver which showed a dialog box upon plugging an audio device in the audio jack. I haven't seen that here in this laptop.

If you are using windows 10 it shows pop-up of the connected device, there is a small drop down option in it, there you can select option of headphone with microphone, alternatively dell audio also prompts you to select the device, there you can select "headphones with microphone" option. If these still don't work, go to the sound control panel in sound settings and go to recording section and disable other devices and enables yours by right clicking on your headphone's option..

Also in sound options my earphone's microphone is not present. There is only the microphone array option. And as mentioned in the first post, contrary to normal, it does not show any pop up dialog when the earphones are connected.

I unistaled the realtek drivers and downloaded via Dell Suport Assist, this way i'm garantid to have the correct version to my laptop. In addition i downloaded the Waves MaxxAudio Service that was missing in my machine.

So, first thing first, download the audio driver that Dell provided. You will also need to download WaveMaxx Audio driver (it's actually a Windows Store apps). Last time they just include the link to open Windows store but some models they just install it. If your company restrict their laptops from contacting Microsoft store, this will be a headache. I have to 'secretly' switch over to my hotspot to get WaveMaxx Audio to install. Lenovo is kind enough to provide offline installer for their apps that use Microsoft Store appx extension and it makes my life easier.

Yeah, this is one way Dell said 'Screw you for reformatting'. I don't like them because the system they ship out are FULL OF BLOATWARES and our company is using another brand of anti-virus. I usually have to format the system (which is the fastest and easiest way) and reinstalling the audio driver is very tricky.

please i have the exact same problem but mine is an acer nitro 5, everything from microphone array to the Realtek folder is the same case as yours, have you found a fix yet I've tried everything from downloading the drivers from acer and Realtek but nothing works. I've been having this issue for a year now

- Can you remove the Intel software and driver for the device. Let Windows pick up the generic one.

Done this and it automatically picked it up each time, disconnected from Citrix each time and then reconnected when it got installed and fully closed/re-opened Teams each time as well (inside Citrix), also checked outside Citrix and was working both times
The second time I kicked off some Windows updates, again nothing relating to the microphone was on there and restarted the laptop; did the tests again, same sadly

Any updates on your issue? We started experiencing this same issue recently with our newer HP's (850 G6 and 850 G7). Both of these models use the Microphone Array (Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) too. I found an article -ms-teams-not-pulling-through-audio-devices/ that was similar (mic not showing in Teams at all). One poster stated that Teams only supports "Recording Devices: up to 3 channels, 16 bit, frequencies up to 48,000 Hz" per -us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/multimedia/opt-ms-teams.html#peripherals-in-microsoft-teams . That article is now updated and says "Recording Devices: up to 4 channels, 16 bit, frequencies up to 96,000 Hz". Teams identifies the microphone device and does not say "None". I wanted to still try scaling back the number of channels for the mic, but its been grayed out and unable to be changed (tried running as admin, unchecking the exclusive access options ect..). On the various other hardware we have tested and had the mic work in Teams, those mics all showed less than 4 channels.

HP specifications do not mention any built-in microphone
8th Gen Intel (kabylake refresh) will probably have a digital microphone array, but the snd_soc_skl driver to support the microphones has been problematic in kernel v5.10

Upon opening Cakewalk I get an error saying " There are no audio devices for the current driver model on your system . Please go to Edit l Preferences l Audio l Playback and Recording and choose a different driver modul" and after that an error about silent buses (Master)

The HD audio driver version for Realtek chips is available for download on our server. This download offers both the Windows XP and Vista binaries, the files contain drivers for the 32 Bit and 64 Bit versions. All Realtek HD audio chips, which are common on many motherboards and in notebooks, are supported.
