City after city is opting for replacing proposed BRT corridors by the far more expensive Metro. Bangalore is the latest example as you can see from this article in 'Bangalore Matters'. With its high cost of construction and uncertain financial capacity are we betting on the wrong horse?
When most roads have poor quality of footpaths, unsafe pedestrian crossings and near zero safety for cyclists, is the humongous investment for the Metro Rail the best option for radically improving the condition of Public Transport? Or will it become yet another hand-out for the select few (and leave the majority of citizens in a class of 'mobility denied')?
