Dear All,

I hope some of you might be travelling Kalewadi Road which is situated between Aundh-Dange Chowk Road and Pimpri-Chinchwad. This road connects Aundh Road with both Pimpri and Chinchwad town. PCMC planned BRT route on Kalewadi Road connecting Alandi with Aundh-Ravet BRT route.

But the BRT road development is going in very slow pace. Its almost 2 years now, after they dug old road. Now road is in very bad condition with gravels on road, which cause vehicles slipping on road. Besides due to bad state of road, its is causing problem to health like Back pain, and also causing damage to vehicles like Tyre and shock-absorb life getting reduced.

Any idea what is deadline for this road?

Thanks.

Dear Sandeep

We (Parisar) attempted to connect with PCMC regarding their BRT program,
but did not get a very favourable response. So, we don't know the
details. However, you could file an RTI with PCMC asking for their BRT
design and implementation plans for current and future phases. That
should give you the details you are looking for.

Take pictures, put them on a CD and submit it with a covering letter
to Commissioner. Make it a point to state that failure to act
following this letter they remain accountable in the event of
accidents leading to serious injuries / fatalities. make sure you get
a signed acknowledgement of your submission.

Will it work? I do not know, it did when I raised the matter in
similar manner in regards to lack of footpaths on SB road 5 years ago.

Best wishes,

A

SVK,

I think lot of employees working in Hinjewadi IT park and living in Pimpri Chinchwad use this road. If you want to get support from such employees, consider creating online petition.
For example: This related petition got huge response.

"Please Improve Hinjewadi Roads, Traffic, Transport Service"

You have asked interesting question. Another question is does ANYONE knows what final road (this includes everything from footh path, underground sewage, roadside lamps etc.) should look like?
Because your question could be satisfactorily answered only IF everyone agrees on what is "completed road". Otherwise any promised target date is meaningless.

May be it is good idea to ask (responsible agencies) about different PHASES of road completion and target dates for them. My experience with Baner (which is also under construction for 2+ years), is that traffic signal, bus stops, zebra crossings, footpaths, and proper drainage of waters on the road are AFTERTHOUGHT. We (citizens and responsible agencies) usually wait for some fatal accident before taking action.

I had posted almost year ago about bad condition of Kalewadi BRT Road (between Kalewadi Phata and Chinchwad Bridge). Now from last 7-8 months Roads have improved, but there is new problem with the road.

Roads are almost widened to 6 lanes, WITHOUT any Road dividers. Due to wide roads, many 2 and 4 wheeler are driving rash from any side of roads due to availability of large space. But due to high speed, daily there are small accidents happening on this road. But yesterday 1 young man in his 20s lost his life due to hit by some vehicle. Old people and Children/students are scared crossing the roads due to high speeding vehicles coming from any side.

I hope Road development authority installs Road dividers so traffic can get some discipline.

I am planning to write in local newspaper in reader's feedback section, and also I hope ruling/opposition parties in this area have a look at this situation.
