Recycle Rush Reminders

A few things that teams should keep in mind:

-  The 2013 white clippard tanks are not legal on this year's robot
-  Remember that robots need to be shipped to Championship in a crate built to this spec
-  Robots need to be in transportation configuration to get from the pit to the field and back.
-  Setting up and removing a robot on the field should not take more than a minute.

REMINDER:  Payments for additional events is due January 23rd.

Team Updates and Q&A

Several team update has been released here. Some of the noteworthy changes thus far:

-  Litter now have a colored tape showing what alliance station they came from
-  Only unscored litter marked in the opponents color on your side of the field will add points to the other alliance
-  Teams may bag their robots in two bags at the end of build season
-  Details for the Media and Technology Innovation Award have been added

Expect to see updates each Tuesday and Friday during the build season.

Teams should also be keeping up with the Q&A system.  Lots of good information being provided and some insight to what other teams are thinking.  Anyone can access the system here.  To ask a question, teams need to use the login information provided in their TIMS account.

Award Submissions

The Woodie Flowers and Entrepreneurship award submissions are due by noon on February 12th.  Both are submitted by the designated students through the STIMS.   Don't forget to submit one of your deserving mentors for recognition and please don't wait until the last minute as no extensions will be provided.

Chairman's and Dean's list award submissions are due by noon on February 19th.  Those are submitted through TIMS.  Past Chairnan's award winners have provided some resources to help teams prepare their submissions.

REMINDER:  The Championship event for 2015 will host 600 FRC teams.  The waitlist for the event has reopened and teams are invited to register.  More details on the Championship waitlist can be found here.

Make it LOUD

Make it LOUD on Capitol Hill! Join FIRST Team RUSH 27 for the second annual FIRST National Advocacy Conference, June 14-16, 2015 in Washington, DC!  FIRST students and Mentors are encouraged to join Team RUSH as they educate Senators and Members of Congress about the importance of FIRST and STEM education. Details and registration information is available here.

Reminder: Display Opportunity: SLAS

We’ve been contacted by the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) with a request. Every year at the annual conference the SLAS provides space on the exhibit floor to one or more FIRST teams to showcase their robots. Their next meeting will be held in Washington DC at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from February 7-11 (http://www.slas2015.org/).

We invite FIRST teams to rotate shifts between the exhibit hall hours. The exhibit hall hours are:

Sunday, February 8  4:30 pm - 7:00 pm (Jr.FLL, FLL, FTC and FRC Teams)

Monday, February 9  10:00 am - 6:30 pm (AM and PM shifts, FTC and FRC teams only)

Tuesday, February 10  9:30 am - 6:00 pm (AM and PM shifts, FTC and FRC teams only)

Receptions are held in the hall, so food will be provided for the teams. Parking expenses will be covered, too!

Please complete the following survey if your team is interested in participating.

Calling all FIRST Alumni

The Chesapeake Regional Planning Committee is looking to gather some information from current FIRST alumni as they begin planning activities for local alumni starting this season.  Please distribute the survey link to your alumni.

Great Dr Wilson,

I pray that you get the role. I have confidence and faith that you will. By the way I am back in MD permanently but I am not mentoring this season.
