We are so lucky to have such dedicated coaches in our small community of Durham..
This is a program that my oldest son Garett participated in from 5th grade until he graduated last year.
Please check and see if it would benefit your family.
Have a great day!
Kirsten

Dear Durham Community,

Hello I am Tony Cardoza.  I am the current President of the Durham
Wrestling Club and the Head Wrestling Coach at Durham High School.  The
Durham Wrestling Club Board would like to invite you to consider having
your child wrestle for us this year.  I can tell you from personal
experience that joining a wrestling team can be a life changing event for
a young person. When I joined the wrestling team in junior high it changed
my life.  Being a pretty small kid, I was able to excel in a sport that
was not dependent on size.  More importantly, the lessons I learned in
wrestling carried over to the classroom, other sports and my everyday
life.  The values that are taught in wrestling are those necessary to
succeed in life.   Wrestling is not one of the main sports out there so
you may not know a lot about it, and what you do know may be
misunderstood.  Wrestling is a tough sport.  However, what is gained by
participating are those incredibly important life lessons.  Our youth
program is designed to have fun and teach those fundamental lessons that
will help develop great wrestlers and even greater young adults.  First,
wrestling is a physically demanding sport.  Your child will learn the
importance of hard work, dedication and goal setting.  Making a goal,
working toward it and achieving it.  They will become physically fit and
learn the importance of exercise and nutrition.  Second, wrestling builds
self confidence.  Training hard and then going to the center of a mat to
battle an opponent is a character building event.  The more you train, the
better you get.  The harder you work, the more success you will have.
Those are life lessons that are taught daily in the wrestling room.  Most
importantly, we try to make it fun!!!  We encourage your participation and
would love you and your child to join us.  Being a wrestler will greatly
increase your child's fitness level, develop confidence, determination and
even teach self-defense.

You may not know this due to wrestling not being a highly publicized
sport, but Durham has developed an amazing wrestling program.  At the high
school our teams have won 7- Div. III Section Championships in the last 12
years (the last 3 years in a row!!)  Most of our wrestlers have developed
in our youth program.  We continue to develop the program and would love
if you came down to check out a practice and consider joining the team.
We accept ages K-8 at the wrestling club and grades 9-12 on the high
school team.  Male and female participants are welcome.  Please come down
and check it out.

K-3 wrestle Tuesday & Thursday 5-6 p.m.
4-8 wrestled T-F 6-7:30 pm.
High School daily 4-6 p.m. at High School Wrestling room.

Sign ups begin November 5 & 6th at Durham Wrestling Club 4:30-:630 p.m.
First 4-8th practice is scheduled for Wednesday November 7th.
