GIRLS ON THE RUN IS SO MUCH FUN!

GIRLS ON TRACK – WE HAVE YOUR BACK!

Have your girl grab her running shoes and join the Girls on Track team today!

Parents – do you have a girl in 6th, 7th or 8th grade?

We are happy to announce that Girls on Track will be on DIS’ campus this spring!

Girls on the Run/Girls on Track is a life-changing character development program. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Through a combination of running games, group activities, individual goal setting, and a community service project, girls are taught values that lead to a confident sense of self.

The goal of the program is to encourage positive emotional, social, mental, and physical development – and to give our girls essential skills they can use to navigate their way through their junior high and high school years.

Girls celebrate their accomplishments by participating in an “end of season” celebratory 5k (3.1 mile) walk/run event, supported and cheered on by their families, friends, and our community.

Our spring 2013 season will begin the week of February 11th 2013.  Girls meet two times per week after-school for 12 weeks (Mondays 2:45 to 4:00pm and Wed 3:30 to 5Pm).  The celebratory run will be the Diva Dash 5K, hosted by Fleet Feet Sports, Saturday May 11th, 2013 at One Mile Recreation Area in Bidwell Park. For Band Students, Mr. Banes has agreed to accommodate the Girls so they will be able to do the run and the parade!

Online registration is open NOW… through January 27th at midnight.

The DIS team is limited to only 12 girls!

Registration will be first-come first served.  The registration fee is $115.00 which includes the 12 weeks of practice, a program t-shirt AND registration in the Diva Dash 5K for the participant and her “Running Buddy!” *Girls on the Run Policy is to never turn a girl away for lack of ability to afford the program so there are also many scholarship opportunities available!

Please visit the Girls on the Run website at www.gotrbuttecounty.org for more information and to find the link to the online registration page.
