Hello, my name is Vince Berg and I am emailing from the Green Dragon in SE PDX.  Our wireless internet is down, we had both Qwest and Integra come out and make sure their stuff was good, they said it all checks out except the wireless router.  Please call me a.s.a.p. to let me know if you can help me out on this.  My # is 425.681.8265.  thanks,

-Vince.

I tried calling Vince, no word back yet. I'm going to drive down to
see what I can find out.

The problem is that the Buffalo wireless router had been plugged into
a new DSL service (or at least one on a different IP address). It had
been configured with the public static IP, so when the upstream IP
changed it naturally stopped working. Furthermore, the DSL modem is
now routing rather than bridging, meaning that the DSL modem has the
public IP address and it does the NAT'ing.

As an interim step, I have re-configured the Buffalo to use a dynamic
network configuration. In the longer term, we should either get the
DSL modem switched back to bridging or ask Integra to set up a port
forward for us. That can wait, but in the meantime we don't have
remote access, which makes dealing with problems more complicated.
