I was about to buy some grey cat5e uv-rated cable (a 1000-foot pull
box) for PTP after running through most of my own and PTP's box on our
recent install at NodeBeulahLand this week. However URS, where I
bought my last box, quoted me $200, which seemed a little high. We
don't really need shielded, afaik (which sounds like increased
crimping hassle).

Anybody have advice on outdoor cable/sourcing?

We need to get some before our next installation.

Thanks!

Russell,

There is a shortage of outdoor CAT5 cabling throughout the industry and
Belden's cable has gone up astronomically! We've been selling the Ubiquiti
ToughCable, Shireen and APEX9 cabling but all of them are out of stock in
CAT5 outdoor. If you're interested though, I have a partial carton of
Ubiquiti ToughCable Level 1 (CAT5e UV Shielded) that I could sell you; 630'
left in pull-box for $85. You may not need the shielded but experience is
that it helps a great deal in preventing EMI/RF interference and possible
voltage spikes. Most of the US needs this but not so much in Western Oregon.

Let me know if I can be of help.

I have lots of Ubiquiti in stock too! :)
