Julia called last night. When I asked how things were going she said "Fine. Can I be honest with you Mom? I don't want to come home we are having too much fun." She has now asked for a Facebook account so she can keep in touch with everyone. She said that compared to France, Belgium seemed like a very poor country. My response is we are all poor compared to Paris. She is excited about trying the chocolate and homes she can bring some back for everyone.

We are delayed in Amsterdam.  I suggest you call the program office before our expected landing to find out if we will be making our flight into ROC.  You can always call the airline to lobby for the plane to wait for us.

If you are a parent of a Rochester delegate it appears the plane from Amsterdam is going to arrive in Newark 15 minutes after the flight to Rochester departs.  You can go onto Continental Airlines website and track the flight.

It appears as if there is a bit of confusion regarding the group's flights today (at least the flights for the Rochester contingent).  Based on Nancy's e-mail (below), I called the Program Office, and was connected to the "after hours" desk.  After some waiting, she told me that they were unable to determine if the flight was delayed out of Amsterdam, and wouldn't know until the flight landed in Newark.  She said that, at that point, we would all be issued an e-mail from People to People with the revised (connecting) flight information.

 

When I went to check the connecting flight information, the flight number listed on their itinerary (from Newark to Rochester) was listed as Continental flight 8776.  When I punched that # into Continental's website, it came up with a flight from Munich Germany, and was actually listed as a United flight.  When I searched, however, for flights originating in Newark and ending in Rochester, it did come up with a flight  # 4786 that arrives at 3:27 p.m., as per the itinerary. 

 

So, I'm thoroughly confused.  Hoping that we get some kind of communication this morning or early this afternoon that clarifies...  and if anyone hears anything definitive, please pass it along, obviously.

Per Continental they are 2 hrs 48 min delayed. Departure time is 11:57am their time now instead of 9:15am their time. The weather in Amsterdam doesn't seem to be a problem at 61 deg and cloudy. The plane is coming from NJ where it's 94 and sunny. Not sure what the delay is, maybe the pilot needed more time to sleep!  I say - let him have it as long as the kids get home safely!  See everyone at the airport sometime later this evening.

Looks like the next Flight in from Newark is coming in at 6:14 as per the airport site. Not sure if all the kids will make this flight yet. I have heard nothing yet officially. Josh

Just heard from Olivia at Newark.  She said that the later flight from Newark to Rochester was booked; they were going to contact the main P2P office to see about other arrangements.  Will report more when I get it.

Very good! I am driving to get him from another location. He forgot to give me details when he called but the leader gave them to me. I was forced to route him differently so we could meet up and still make our family vacation! 

We didn't know when he was leaving and returning until kind of late. We moved our vacation around once we got the dates but sunday was the make it or break it kind of deal. We had to make the decision to go or lose it last week.  We decided to go for it! My husband plans vacation a year n advance and this may be the last one together, our oldest goes to college next year!

I CAN NOT WAIT TO HEAR ALL ABOUT THE TRIP!  I AM SORRY IAN DOESN'T GET TO HANG OUT FOR THE LAST NIGHT!
