indiscernable sky stitch

Hello Everybody, I just started with PTGui. I have a panorama with al good amount of white and blue sky. The panorama is shot with a motorized panorama head. So the pictures are in order. Is there a switch or override to tell the software that even without control points just use the next picture? I tried the align to grid but it left gaps and because the filling of rows and collumns numbers did not fit anymore so the panorama came out wrong. The number of pictures is 600 10 rows 60 columns.

Henk, Do you know the horizontal and vertical angular increments for each row of images?  If so, and you are using the Align to Grid function correctly, there should be no gaps showing in the Panorama Editor display before running Align Images or the Optimizer.  Certainly the running of Align Images might result in blank spaces if that is not being controlled correctly.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.  There ought to be complete coverage of the panorama area  with the images regularly spaced as intended.  Images without control points ("orphan images") should remain in place during the optimization of the surrounding images and so blend in well enough.

Thanks for the info. I think I have to study the help files beter. Allign to grid goes a long way. But everything looks to be almost on its place. then the program advices to run optimize . I Think everything looks better aligned . But some air parts, photo's, are now floting in the air en the image, panorama, has a wave form. So minor adjustments seem major adjustments leaving me with an unusable panorama. Hope for some wisdom for a starting PTGui-er.

Henk,  Your screenshots are very helpful.  Starting from this point in the processing, the panorama can be straightened or levelled to get the horizon straight and flat by using a manual method described in this tutorial:

Then switch Ptgui into Advanced mode and select the Image Parameters tab.

Optionally switch on image numbers in the Panorama Editor window (the icon of a square with "3" in it) to identify overlapping images.

You are now quipped to calculate the precise horizontal and vertical spacing of the rows and columns. 

Display the very accurate value of a parameter in the yaw and pitch columns by double click on the initially displayed short value.

So having established the true horizontal and vertical spacing, rerun Align Images using the new accurate parameters and you should see a complete panorama with no holes. Then run the optimizer to align the images accurately (not Align Images).

The key to using PTGui most effectively is to get to know the Optimizer.  Try reading through my very old out-of-date tutorial:  PANORAMA TOOLS - USING THE OPTIMIZER .  Things have changed a lot since then but you should get the general idea of how it works.
