i've regenerated several times (different sizes), and the result looks great (and logical) in photoshop
but when i open to view in  VIEWER i get the above error message.

I've never encountered a situation like this where there's a program error.

2000x2000 jpg     3000x3000 jpg    2000x2000 tiff      (size and format do not matter, same error)

TnhStreamProcessor.cpp line 4756   TnhUtilities::RectContains(feedrectangle, neededrectangle)

what are work-arounds?    I'm stuck.     It's expensive software to have this type of problem.

The error message says it:feedrectangle, neededrectangle)

A panorama which should be displayed by the viewer has to be a rectangle, to be precise an equirectangle which you get when doing a spherical panorama.

sorry that i'm missing why
a 2000px X 2000px square resulting image generated by ptgui would not be acceptable to
display directly by ptgui viewer?

Because the viewer is only able to display a spherical panorama which is one which is going 360 around and 90 up and down which makes the resulting panoramic image a  one which has to have a ratio of exactly 2:1 ! For example 10000 pixel x5000 pixel. Any other ration won't work!!!

Actually the viewer should be able to display any equirectangular image
having either a 360 horizontal or a 180 vertical field of view. So the
error is a bug which will be fixed.

But it's not particularly useful to display such partial panoramas in
the PTGui viewer, you will see black bars around the panorama.

@Will: what's the projection and field of view of your panorama? The
viewer is only really useful for spherical equirectangular panoramas of
360 degree wide.

perhaps i'm misunderstanding something.   This one series of stitched images  (generated with Pro)  is the first i've encountered that has had any problems for the viewer.
i'm not aware that i'm doing anything different in the generation process

the resulting stitched square image appears to my eye to be complete for wrap-around in both axes, and it looks similar to others i've generated.
i just tried using flat projection, and the viewer "stops working"
event viewer error:
Faulting application name: PTGuiViewer.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x53ec7af4
Faulting module name: nvoglv64.DLL, version: 9.18.13.3182, time stamp: 0x5280d8fe
Exception code: 0xc0000005

should i post the resulting jpgs somewhere?   any suggestions for work-arounds?

i re generated from scratch, the same set of source images.
this time ptgui generated a 2:1 aspect ratio, and it works in the viewer fine.

what would have caused ptgui to generate square images for 360+180 panorama stitching?

Hi Will,

I don't know.. in any case, a square equirectangular image can only have
180 degrees horizontal field of view so it cannot wrap around horizontally.
