Hi,
We've been working with PTGui for years and when its changed payment method with yearly payments we didnt use PTgui that often to decide if we wanted to jump on the yearly payments. Therefore we're still on 11.32.

Question; have there been improvements in the controllpoint section regarding PTGui placing controllpoints in the clouds instead of physical objects which messes up the entire image?
Are you able to tell the program to not place controllpoints in certain areas to avoid theese things?

Hi Simon,

First of all, perpetual licenses are still available, both for personal
and for company use. Subscriptions were added as an extra option:
https://ptgui.com/order.html

PTGui might still place control points on moving clouds. But you can
prevent this by masking out the sky (with red masks) before running
Align Images. The control point generator will not place control points
on red masks.

Then afterwards you can delete the masks in one go: select the images in
the Source Images tab, right click, Clear Mask.

This might even work in v11.32 but I'm not sure.

Kind regards,

I've tried this method of using the masking tool and it does work but its alot of work since we're producing 6 pictures down, 6 pictures up and about 90+ panoramas per project.
I think we will just upgrade to V.13 and try if it gets better.

If you always shoot the same way, and the amount of visible sky is
similar, You can create a template:

Open one of your projects and mask out the sky
Go to Project Settings, Template Behavior and uncheck everything there
except for Image Masks
File - Save As Template

Now you have a template which applies the necessary masks.

I'm not sure how much of this would work in PTGui 11 though.

We´ve got an template but i´ve added masks as you propose, will try it.
We usually use the batch builder with template so then you´ll need to go into each pano and delete the masks.. Now when Im writing this I realise this sounds... Worse in some ways.. Haha...

Well, either way, we´ll see if 13 works better and i´ll try the mask template aswell.

Thanks!
