Just received my new Qoocam 3 which in theory I should get better results than my Z1 or even older OneR.
Have done a couple of DNG test shots here for you to play with

This should be 1/1.55 f1.6 image sensor / lens, being approx similar size than 1".

Tried to throw a few pix into latest PtGui 12.22 but it doesn't seem to deal with those images in a meaningful way. Not even getting a 'baseline' rectilinear..

Yes this is new, and should be good, so support would be great ;-)

Peter, I got a reasonable stitch using a tiff file (to correct white balance) and uploaded the project to https://we.tl/t-H09EFrK06L  .  However, to evaluate a good set of lens parameters, take two shots, panning the camera around through 90 degrees between them.  This gives 4 image circles with 90% overlap, which enables a good spread of control points to be generated.

Hi Peter,

I'll add support for the Qoocam in a next update.

In the mean time, you can stitch the images by loading the same image
twice and applying a template such as the one provided by John Houghton.

Kind regards,

Hallo Willy, would you like to elaborate how you got to this point?

Hey Joost, that would be great. Any source material you need, pls let me know.
Ps, first finding also hence enclosed, PTGui also couldn't work out the 5AEB HDR stack as it wasn't linear

Hi John, I found your template-jh in another post, but I cannot work how to get this to a result. My original image files show being on top of each other, rotated.. Just can't make any sense of it.
Have uploaded a screenshot onto that folder (OP) plus 2 full rez 90degree offset DNGs
Some guidance would be appreciated, than you

I sent you yesterday the project with all files

Yes I saw that, thanks Willy, but I don't know how you got to get those individual TIFFs to begin with, from the portrait dual fisheye DNG starting material..

another thing, I tried to convert those DNGs to TIFF full rez 16-bit (via CaptureOne Pro), but when I open in Qoocam Studio for stitching, it says 'metadata missing'..! Have noticed that there was no good metadata information (date, gps) in the original DNG files

Ok the easy part …. Only by cutting (crop) with photoshop , I got the single lens pictures
Then in PTGUI I set manually controls points until the optimizer were able to get a result.

That’ll do it 😉

It’ll also explain the dissimilar dimensions I have observed

Shall give this a try, thanks!

Peter,  I have created a new template project file from your supplied pair of images.  Note that when shooting images for a template, you should ideally choose a location where things are relatively far away to avoid parallax effects.  I have included the two jpeg source image files generated using Photoshop's ACR from the dng images as well as the composite 4 image project used to evaluate the lens parameters more accurately.  the template file should work for either the dng images or jpeg/tiff images converted with Photoshop.  These images show in PTGui as vertical image pairs, not horizontal, as you will see from my project that can be downloaded from https://we.tl/t-98drT3tGxp .  The template file will not work if you use a different raw converter that generates a horizontal pair of image circles, which appears to be the case for your jpeg  sample images.

I saw the same DNG by Qoocam 3.  Why do they make the fisheye as verticle stack? Why?

They did the same with Insta360 One RS as verticle stack fish eye too. Why?

Why can't they make the fisheye horizon like Ricoh Theta cameras.

(I always edit in the fisheyes, never edit in the stitched 360 photo)

New version 12.23 now has Qoocam3 support, Thank you team!!
Testing this now ;-)

Hi team, since then, Qoocam3 also had another firmware update.. V 1.0.25.5
Improvement highlight is now the images are presented as a horizontal fisheye pair, and no longer stacked vertical..which is nice ;-)
The image loads fine into the Project Assistant without further a do, however, if I now
I still cannot read the embedded lens profile (which is I think only Photoshop friendly), and if I now click "Initialize Lens Parameters from EXIF" in >Lens Settings then the image in the Panorama editor corrupts and renders the output unusable.
Further, If I look at >Crop, it appears the location and size of circles are out / do not match the actual image and thus produce a misaligned stitch.
?Is this from embedded data or analyzed or preset somewhere?

I also still don't think I can properly read embedded lens data as I think this is Photoshop only but not that this would matter too much at this stage..

I have uploaded a DNG and parallel JPE on my drive here for you if you want to play..

Indeed, PTGui doesn't read any lens profile from the source image. It
has a general lens profile for the qoocam built in.

You're right; actually 'Initialize Lens Parameters from EXIF' doesn't
work at all for any dual fisheye camera. Just don't use it; PTGui will
apply the correct lens profile when you load the image.

> Further, If I look at >Crop, it appears the location and size of circles

The crop circle appears to be shifted, but what you actually see is the
edge of the camera. Because the lens is mounted off center, the edge is
not symmetrical in the circular image. I could reduce the size of the
default cropping circle, but then you would loose some useful image data
at the opposite side as well.

> ?Is this from embedded data or analyzed or preset somewhere?

PTGui just applies a centered circle of a predefined size.

It's recommended to make your own template, see 6.41:
https://ptgui.com/support.html#6_41

The GPS data appears to be embedded in the jpeg only, so PTGui will not
be able to read it from the DNG.

I'll check the 1970 date issue you are reporting.

Thanks Joost, quick and professional as always. Shall try the template option re crop circle;
As for the Kandao metadata issues, I've been using https://www.metadata2go.com/view-metadata to analyze and I think Kandao has been pretty slack with putting DNG metadata in the right spots.. as I cannot see GPS data or gyro / IMU in the expected places either..what's your take on that? It all seems 'buried' in a custom user field..
Had a conversation with Huimin c...@kandaovr.com about that but not heard a word since..
Re 'general Qoocam Lens Profile': should this  correct for DNG colour shift (magenta-green) of the lens as well as colour balance?
Cheers
Peter
