Hi

I've just upgraded to v10.0 and I'm getting an OpenCL error when I click on 'Fusion Settings...' in the Exposure/HDR tab. The error reads:

OpenCL error: CL_INVALID_MEM_OBJ (-38) in function clSetKernelArg

The same error occurs whether I open an old project or create a new one.

What action should I take?

Win7 Pro SP1 Quad core Intel i7 2.93GHz ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL)

I also get the same error when trying to 'Preview' a panorama, although when I click 'Create Panorama' the stiching and saving goes ahead and saves - although the resultant output file in my test (a project created in v9.2) is significantly lighter than the original.

Hi Jonas,

RoyReed managed to solve the problem by installing the latest driver for
his card, it was a bug in an old ATI/AMD GPU driver.

Assuming you also have an AMD card, the latest driver can be downloaded
here:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
Don't use Automatically Detect and Install, apparently it doesn't work.

But before you install any new driver, could you do Help - System
Information and send the output to me at sup...@ptgui.com? This will
help to diagnose future similar problems.

Hi,
I'm getting always an OpenCL error: CL_INVALID_VALUE(-30) in function clGetDeviceIDs.

I installed the latest amd driver for my Radeon HD6800 Series Graphic Card but it didn't help.

I also have a problem with OpenCL after installing v10, but with a different error message. When I go to create a pano I get the error message "OpenCL error: CL_INVALID_WORK_ITEM_SIZE(-55) in function clEnqueueNDRangeKernal". In the meantime I have managed to continue processing images by going into the PTGui options and disabling the use of GPU acceleration, but that's not really a solution.

I have updated the AMD graphics driver to the latest version as suggested in this thread, but that had no affect.

Any ideas?

Attached is a dump from the PTGui  Help - System Information, if that is of use.

Regards

Stephen

Just checking that you actually did get the latest driver, as I had real trouble finding it on the AMD website and their automated driver update tool proved useless, telling me there was an update available and then downloading and installing exactly the same version I already had (8.33xxx dated sometime in 2010). When I eventually found it by trying all of their confusing drop-downs, the actual new driver for my graphics card (ATI FirePro V4800 (FireGL V)) is version 13.352.1014.0 dated 22/06/2014.

Hello,

I do have similar problem. When I do start PtGui v10 I do get error "OpenCL error: CL_INVALID_VALUE (-30) in function clGEtDeviceIDs.
I updated my driver GeForce 340.52 - it's the latest driver for my graphic card.

The error appear after starting PtGui and when I try to call "Exposure /HDR" and I can't gennerate a Pano. I always get same error.

Thanks for help

Fater upgrading to Version 10, I get the following error when stitching, "Error: clSetKernelArg".  The card that I use is an ATI Radon HD 5570 and I just upgraded the driver.  As of now I cannot stitch, any help is appreciated.

Here's the temporary workaround which will allow you to use PTGui until the problem is solved:

Tools > Options > Advanced > untick 'Enable GPU acceleration (using OpenCL)'

Thanks for this hint ... unfortunately, even when I try to access the tools - Option section I get same ""OpenCL error: CL_INVALID_VALUE (-30) in function clGEtDeviceIDs" Error ... It seems I have to wait till the problem is solved.

Hi Andre,

It's a different error actually. Which GPU do you have? It looks like it
doesn't support OpenCL.

PTGui should give a less cryptic error though. You can disable GPU
acceleration in Options - Advance, this should work around the problem
for now.

Ah, yes I'm afraid you will need to go back to PTGui 9 for the time
being. But please let me know which GPU is installed.

Hi,

I have the same behavior as described by Andre Kreitlein and I cannot access the Option section too. My GPU is a AMD HD6500.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks, I have enough information. The bug will be fixed. In the mean
time please disable GPU acceleration in the options.

BTW your card is a lower end GPU, I don't expect there to be much
speedup from using it.

Just letting you know that I was also getting errors (-42) and (-30), implying a GPU that doesn't support OpenCL.  This only started happening AFTER installing a 2nd, dissimilar, older GPU (Geforce GT240).  It had worked flawlessly when it was just the single Geforce GTX 560 Ti 448.

So, when selecting Auto, or explicitly selecting GPU1: 560 Ti, the error dialog would trigger as soon as I clicked OK out of the Tools - Options dialog.

Yes of course disabling GPU acceleration prevents the error, but doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of using PTGui v10, since it's purportedly 10x (or however many x) faster than v9?

Is this issue fixed in 10.0.12?

Hi Waylan,

Could you try quitting PTGui, then deleting all .bin files in the folder

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\PTGui\opencl\ (Windows)
or
/home/<User>/Library/Application Support/PTGui/opencl/ (Mac)

This might solve the -42 error ('invalid binary') although I'm not sure
what PTGui would do wrong here. If this doesn't help, the problem is
probably caused by the OpenCL driver, PTGui just passes on any errors to
you.
