I have been using this for a few years now and was thinking about upgrading.  I wanted to see if the new version would help with straightening lines so I downloaded the trial..  So far it's the same.

To explain. I do residential interior photography.  I regularly stitch 2 pictures together and sometimes in portrait orientation.  Many times the lines will come out curved where they should be straight. Also it seems the result looks stretched widthwise.

I use an R5 Mk2 and a 15-35

I may sound like a rookie here but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Tom,

Only the rectilinear projection preserves straight lines. Therefore, in
the Panorama Editor you need to choose Rectilinear projection.

For more information see 6.1:

If you need any help, just make a set of images available, or post a
screenshot.

Kind regards,
