Hey,

what are the limitations for smartblend? While trying to render a
56000x15000 HDR Panorama it says its out of memory, but all my hard-
drives have enough space left.

So whats the best resolution i can get out of there. Or are there any
other ways to get smartblend to do it? I need smartblend..its smarter
than the other options.. :(

on the few occasions I tried using smart blend, I found the limit somewhere around 10000x5000, but this is hearsay/speculation/guestimate. you could try enblend, although that crashed on my trying to blend a 14000x7000 last week, so YMMV.
if you are in a crunch, and own photoshop CS5 or CS6, use the auto blend layers function. while it will fail to blend across the +-180deg seam and the Z/N, it does a spectacular job on the rest. I found it is capable to blend about 500Mpx is one go, larger projects need to be blended in multiple steps.

I once created a 27956 x 7428 file with smartblend. At the moment the files are being prepared for enblend, i hope it has the same quality as smartblend...well first i should hope that it works at all i suppose. :D

We all need smartblend, it's marvelous :-)

However, no information is available. It is an old an slow 32 bit
program which will not be updated. You will have to find out the limits
on your own - they might depend on your computer and on the situation
(free contiguous memory block).

Let's hope Joost implements a similar algorithm in PTGui blender.

Kolor licensed and built smartblend into Autopano pro. It would be
nice if the same were done for PTGui.

Something else must be wrong, i just tried to re-render at a resolution that worked in win XP 32bit before with smartblend.

Now I'm on Win7 64bit with 4 GB more RAM (total of 8GB) and it failed with the settings that worked in Win XP.

Did i miss anything?
I moved all windows system and user temp folders to a harddisk with 500GB free Space
I set the temp folder in PTUI on the same drive.
I set the page file on auto on a SSD with 26 GB left.
