Whilst looking for a panoramic head for my 5D, I now see an update to
the old Panosaurus head which initially wouldn't take the 5D due to
its weight.
I have not yet decided on a lense, but regardless it seems that this
cheaper solution may work with a heavier body and lense.
The spec describes this head as able to take a weight up to 4.5 Kilos,
which seems more than enough for most bodies and lenses.
Can anyone advise if they are using this type of head, and if the cost
compared to the Nodal Ninja alternatives is worth considering.

I started with a Panosaurus head and when I knew I wanted to improve and do a lot a more Pano's I moved up to a NN.
Its an excellent low cost head for starting with but it doesn't really compare with the NN at the end of the day.

I am about a year into panos and have been using the Panosaurus and
have not had any real problems. I say real problems because all my
images have stitched great. I have found a very annoying problem in
that the bracket has about a 1 to 2 mm shift in the vertical. It might
be a lot less that that. I use the level on the bracket and cant get
the bubble in the center of the target. It takes about 5 tries to get
it in the center. It always creeps to the edge of the circle on the
level. Yep it can drive you nuts if you have to be level. I think it
will last for a very long time and it is well made. I am thinking of
putting a nylon washer at the pivot to take up the slack. Since I am
new to this it might not make any difference in the alignment. I
thought it was the ball head on the tripod and after taking it apart
and cleaning I discovered it was the bracket.

Ok, the Panosaurus is a cheap solution for beginners... believe me it is incredibly good for the price! but you cannot compare it to a NN!
