Hi

I am doing large stitches from a hirox microscope that are 2 rows of a few hundred images, this is my process:

Load images
Project -> Align to grid: preset 2 rows, 20% overlap, by row, unidirectional, start at top left
Create panorama: TIFF, 16 bit, no compression, no alpha channel
click Create panorama

This works perfectly on most of my images but in 3 of my 50 folders, the stitch just stays on "please wait. " The program takes CPU and RAM resources but never finishes the stitch.

What I already tried:
move the folder
remove some images to create a differently sized image
restart PC
re export the source images to jpg instead op tiff
•       change folder name

Hi Louis,

I'm pretty sure it is not hanging but just taking a lot of time.
Possibly because those stitches need a bit more RAM than you have
available. PTGui will start swapping to and from disk.

How much RAM does your PC have? Do you have enough free disk space
available? Is it on a fast SSD (not HDD)?

Kind regards,

Hi

All other stitches (some of which are multiple times bigger, so size is not the issue) take less than 4 minutes to finish and only a few seconds for the "please wait" window to go away. I have left those three for many hours, and nothing has happened.

my pc has 256 GB of RAM PTgui has never needed all of it, all on an SSD of 2TB with plenty of space left. The final stitches are about 5-10 GB

Thanks.

Hi Louis,

I agree, with those specs this should not happen.

Could you make the project available for download? I would need the
project file and source images. Please also include the output of Help -
System Information in PTGui.

For the time being, there are two workarounds you could try:
Disable GPU acceleration (Options - Advanced)
or disable 'Find Optimum Seams' in the Panorama Editor - Blending side bar.

Kind regards,
