Using version 13.6 PTGui Pro.

When I export a particular 50502x25251 equirectangular (a common size for me) project, the results are fine if I choose jpeg output, but if I export as tiff and then view it in PTGui Viewer there's a black vertical seam line from nadir to zenith. I haven't seen this in a long time.

Hi,

This looks like a bug in the TIFF export! Could you post your project
file (just the .pts)?

Thanks
Kind regards,

After reading your reply I opened the PTGui project and clicked "Align Images" in step 2 of Project Assistant. It was a stab in the dark move because the earlier jpeg export had already looked fine in Viewer. I then went to Create Panorama and noticed that the Width x height values differed from their earlier values. Now they're 50536x25268, whereas the previous iteration was 50502x25251.

I exported the project to tiff and tested it in Viewer. No seam!

Sorry. I do not understand what happened, but second Align Images pass apparently fixed whatever went wrong.

Question: during the first pass through PTG I did some exposure tweaks in PTG after the initial alignment. Does doing an align images after dark areas have been opened up in PTG affect the alignment process? I should think Align Images works with the original images, which are unaffected by exposure tweaks in PTG, but otherwise the answer must be: magic!

YIKES!   Wrong again, sort of.

I wrote my reply after clicking the View...  button on the Create Panorama page. There was no seam visible.

But after sending my email to you, I opened the tiff file in PTG Viewer and there's the seam!  To be absolutely specific: I right-clicked on the tiff in Finder and selected Open With... > PTGui Viewer.  That's what I had done when I originally submitted my post about the seam.

Attached is a screenshot showing the two instances of PTG Viwer (Both v 2.10) side by side.

So I just opened the tiff in another macOS app, Spherical Viewer. No seam.

The ball is in your court.

Hi Tim,

So the TIFF file is correct, but the PTGui Viewer shows the black seam?

Could you post your project file (just the .pts) so I can try to
reproduce this?

Kind regards,

That's correct, Align Images uses the original unmodified source images.

The vertical line is appearing frequently with various pano projects when I save as an 8-bit TIFF with ZIP compression. Another consistent behavior is that if I click View in the Create Panorama tab ("Open in  PTGui Viewer") there is no vertical seam, but if I right-click on the TIFF in Finder and open it in PTGui Viewer, the seam is present. But right-click and open with Spherical Viewer: no seam.  Attached is the most recent project file.

Hi Tim,

Could you try upgrading to PTGui 13.7? I think it's related to the tiled
output; this is fixed in 13.7.

Kind regards,
