Hi all,

For a new subsea pipeline survey method images will be gathered by two separate surveys along both sides of the pipeline at close vicinity.  I want to stitch the resulting sequence of images, next I want to combine the stitched images from both pipeline sides and finally i want to unwrap the combined images to a 'flat' surface with the top of the pipeline used as center.
Is this possible with the PTGui?

in linked youtube reel you can see a left and right image sequence which are more or less similar. Although in my situation the camera pose is perpendicular to the pipeline.

looking forward to your reply

Hi Rein,

No I'm sorry, this is not something PTGui can do. It requires images
taken from the same viewpoint. I think you would need to resort to a
photogrammetry solution.

hallo Joost,

Well, that is something I am working on with navigation specialists: to create a relative navigation solution for autonomous vehicles sailing along a longitudinal object. The goal is to derive a system which provides a very stable (relative to the object) trajectory of the vehicle and thus for the camera. I think we can say the viewpoint will be the same.

Would you reconsider your opinion of the PTGui possibilities? Perhaps some (paid) developments can be thought of. My timeline is rather relaxed.

looking forward to your reply
best regards
Rein

Hi Rein,

No I'm sorry, this would be beyond PTGui's scope.
