PTGui will not open files

After an update in either Windows 11 (version 23H2, installed 11/18/2023, Build 22631.3880) or PTGui (12.26), attempting to load ANY photo file (.jpg, .DNG, .TIFF) into PTGui, the error message "you do not have permission to open this file" blocks my "Load Images..." .
I can load any of my image files into DXOphotolab , Topaz AI, Paint, SNS-HDR Pro, GIMP,, but NOT PTGui.
