Hi guys
I've started using PTGui again after a 5 year break. Originally started using it about 10/12 years ago and I really like it.
I was wondering if PTGui in general is under active development and what the pace is like or is there a product roadmap.

It's just a general question. There's really very little PTGui is missing IMHO but a friend was recently showing me some alternatives.
Cheers

Hi Peter,

PTGui is under very active development. The next version will be
released when it's ready, I can't provide any further information. If
you have any wishes feel free to post them here.

Kind regards,

Thanks for the info and it's good to hear :)

I was wondering about the ability to import a separate PNG or JPG etc on top of an equirectangular image for purpose of adding a nadir cap.
I can do this in Pano2VR and other apps but would like to do it further up stream sometimes.

This has always been possible - I've been doing it for years.  You need to make use of the Individual Lens Parameters feature.

I hope part of that active development includes photos taken by cameras like the Samsung Gear 360 with front and back cameras both taking 210 degree photos output as a single JPG file which can then be stitched into an equirectangular file suitable for showing a full 360x180 panorama. I am particularly interested in the single-shot panorama but if you eventually move to full 360-degree movies I won't complain. :-)

This is already possible. Simply load the image twice and set the crop
circle individually to both halves. Eventually you need to mask the
region where both circles overlap. You can save this as a template for
future automatic stitches.

Erik, etc.
I have the samsung 360 and would like to get out the highest resolution image, stitched and mapped to different projections.

You can get the file out of the camera as a panorama (the SAM_ file) and I am wondering if this can be used to make the 360 view???  I don't know how ptgui handles an already made pano, but then I am not too experienced with the software.   I don't want to use the stupid action director software which downsizes the image to video resolution.

I have read what you said above  about using the dual fisheye circular output but am not clear about the masking your are mentioning, if you can explain that would be helpful.

I specifically like the ball / sphere view that you get only on the phone and I have had a 3d guy model that onto a sphere which I really like because how it flows and how you can manipulate it.  Any input on how to get that spherical look of a ball that rotates from ptgui?????

Any input on this, links, thoughts and of course wise cracks are welcome

If you adjust the crop circles for the two hemispheres in the image
you'll notice that they actually overlap a tiny bit. This overlap region
needs to be masked red on PTGui Mask tab.
