My spherical panoramas (insta360) look terrible in a VR headset. Details are missing because the sensors are too small. My idea is to use my other photos to partially improve the spherical panoramas. To do this, my photos would have to be automatically adjusted and distorted so that they match the equirectangular panorama. Could this be done with PTGui?

Yes, definitely, but they must be taken from exactly the same viewpoint
as the original panorama. This is necessary to avoid parallax problems.
If the detail images are of very distant subjects, it might work well
even if the viewpoint differs slightly, but as soon as you have a
foreground in the images, problems could arise.
