I scan my negatives with a Fujifilm GFX100s. Until recently, I used a GF120 macro with an extension tube to go 1:1.
I have now changed the lens and use a Schneider Kreuznach PYRITE 4.5/90.
Of course, that lens does not transmit EXIF data to the camera.
So I defined the new lens in the PTGui lens database as best as i could.
When I load the images in PTGui, strange things happen (e.g., the Panorama window shows only a fraction of the image), and the stitching fails much more frequently in spite of the lens being of superior quality.
How do I solve this? What are the EXIF parameters I should load in the images to avoid the problem?
Thanks, giorgio di paolo, NYC

Hi Giorgio,
I'm not sure if I understand, but if you are stitching negatives of
images that form a panorama, then you would need to enter the parameters
of the lens that was used to take the original images.
Or if you are stitching mosaics, the actual lens parameters don't
matter; see 6.5:
https://ptgui.com/faq#6_5
If you need more help, feel free to make a set of images available for
download.

Hello Joost,
thanks fow responding (and so soon!).
I digitize my negatives taking several pictures, then I stitch them to form the image of the whole negative, then I import the negative in Lightroom, invert etc etc.
Until now I used a Fujifilm camera and a Fujifilm lens and the two communicated perfectly all the data, EXIF included, and everything worked in PTgui.
Now I use a Schneider Kreuznach PYRITE 4.5/90 which is zero electronic lens. Hence the EXIF data are not in the files. PTGui behaves erratically both in the Panorama editor and in its capability to stitch correctly. The same images (files) are stitched correctlyin Photoshop and in Capture One but it takes forever with both apps.
What are the crucial lens data that PTGui must find to operate correctly? What are those data for this specific lens? Is it better to inject those data in the files or define a default lens to use when none is the files EXIF data?
Thanks for the help which is much appreciated here.

Hi Giorgio,
You are stitching a mosaic, not a panorama. In that case use the method
explained in 6.5:
https://ptgui.com/faq#6_5
Make sure the camera is pointing perfectly perpendicular to the
negative. EXIF data is irrelevant, you just need to tell PTGui to assume
it is a very long lens (say 1000mm).
