Create panoramas in batch mode. After a certain, undefined number of panoramas (approx. 10–12), PTGui crashes. Windows 11 restarts with the error message

Clock_Watch_Dog_Timeout (0X101).

What could be causing this problem?

Hi Thomy,

This is a Windows Blue Screen error. Those are caused by a hardware or
driver error.

While a regular application such as PTGui may crash, it cannot cause
Windows to crash completely. The error may be triggered by something
that PTGui does, but it cannot be fixed in PTGui.

The most likely cause is a problem with the GPU driver or GPU hardware.
You can try disabling GPU acceleration in PTGui. To do so, go to Options
- Advanced and disable GPU acceleration.

If that doesn't solve the issue then it may be difficult to diagnose, it
could be anything from CPU degradation (for example Intel 13900k), bad
RAM or a bad power supply.

Kind regards,

I've now enabled GPU memory allocation (it was previously disabled). It seems to be working fine now. Does this mean PTGui has a problem with RAM when GPU memory allocation isn't enabled?

I’ve noticed that when PTGui is running in batch mode, other applications (Photoshop, LRC, etc.) run very slowly. (I have 128 GB of RAM, all SSD drives, and one of the best Intel i7 CPUs.)

Hi Thomy,

What do you mean by "enabled GPU memory allocation" ?

If other applications run slowly, then they must be fighting with PTGui
for some resource. That could be the GPU but also RAM or disk.

To see if it's the GPU, try disabling GPU acceleration in PTGui. If
that's the case, it's probably caused by multiple applications trying to
use all GPU RAM at the same time. In Options - Advanced you can
configure the maximum amount of video RAM used by PTGui.

O.K.

Got it.

Now I'm having a problem where the batch job freezes after it's created a few panoramas. Is there any way to figure out why?

I think all these issues have the same underlying cause. I would first
try running PTGui without GPU acceleration and see if that resolves the
problems.
