If an HDR VR set shot on a tripod is shot with a nadir from a different viewpoint (tilted tripod), what's the most efficient stitching workflow?

Should all images be unlinked, or just the nadir? What about the viewpoint correction?

I know how the normal viewpoint correction workflow works, I'm just wondering how to combine that with HDR most effectively.

Hi Mosley,

If all images were shot on a tripod, including the nadir, then keep the
images linked. VP correction would work the same as with non-HDR
projects. VP should be enabled for all linked nadir images, but PTGui
will do this automatically when the images are linked. I think you can
just follow the VP tutorial without any changes.

My problem is that I was tilting the tripod up on two legs for the nadir images, so it wouldn't be rock-steady like the rest, The nadir images would also have a slightly different viewpoint. So what I'd like to do is be able to unlink only the nadir images and apply viewpoint correction to them.

In that case you would need to unlink the nadir images. In Advanced
mode, go to the Image Parameters tab and uncheck the Link checkbox for
your nadir images. The other images can remain linked.

Add control points between all your nadir images and enable viewpoint
optimization for all nadir images. Add control points between at least
one of your nadir images and the rest of the panorama. Ensure that all
nadir control points are on a single flat surface, i.e. no control
points above floor level. If your nadir images are not too far off this
should work.

There are some excellent tutorials on shooting the nadir from Florian Knorn. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL15B8C737F69319BE
In fact I am started to shoot my panos handheld without a tripod. Stitching them with PTgui is no problem and as perfect as shot with a tripod.
Doesn't work for HDR's if there is not enough light.
