Apologies for the basic question: Can I use PTGui to 'unwrap' HDR photos of chrome spheres that I will then use for lighting in 3D programmes?
I am shooting light probe spheres to capture the lighting but I'm researching the best software to unwrap them.
Many thanks.

PTGui itself is not very good doing this, but it can be achieved (even
better than in that example:

A search for 'unwrap spherical mirror' reveals that photomatix has a
built-in tool to do this, but I never tried it:

You may check Flexify 2 (at
http://www.flamingpear.com/flexify.html
It is a plug-in that can be hosted by Photoshop amongst other programs:
<< Flexify 2: Bend spherical panoramas into vertiginous new shapes. With HDR support and retouching formats.>>
Mirror ball image is indeed in the User's Guide on the list of accepted projection for both Inputting and outputting. Free demo is available.
