Hello,

I use PTGUI version 12.22, I stitched 3 images(Rectilinear 26 mm), there is a kind of seam at the middle of the ceiling. I tried with the zero overlap and multiband blender. Also, I tried to deactivate the "Find optimum seams" option but the issue is not solved. Issue does not happens with PTGUI 11 and the old multiband blender.
The issue happens with the version for Windows and Linux.

Mike, Did you try multiband blending with "Find optimum seams" disabled?  That should give similar results to V11.

Hello John,

Yes, I tried it ! Here is the result and the seam is still visible even If I select multiband instead of zero overlap

Mike, This type of ceiling tiles always seems to cause blending problems, particularly when the the images are not accurately aligned (as is the case here).  The ceiling shots could be better aligned by using viewpoint correction since it is a flat plane. You would probably need to add in the ceiling images a second time and treat them as offset zenith shots.   But that doesn't really explain why V11 and V12 deliver different results for multiband blending.  Only Joost can provide an explanation for that.

Hi Mike,

The Zero Overlap blender isn't able to nicely blend these kind of fine
patterned subjects. You need to use Multiband, and optimum seams should
be disabled.

Then PTGui 12 should match PTGui 11. I would like to investigate, could
you make your project available for download?

Kind regards,

Mike, Aside from the V11/V12 issue, a few observations:  There's no metadata in the supplied files so some some guesswork is involved.  It looks like you have used auto settings generally, so the images differ hugely in terms of brightness, white balance and image quality, which doesn't ease the blending process.  I think you also used auto focus, which affects the fov of the images.  This can be coped with by selecting individual lens parameters on the Lens Settings tab. This eliminates the small misalignments that otherwise occur and the optimization figures are greatly improved.  My V12 project file is attached.

Hello John,

Indeed, I used auto setting of the camera for white balance, exposure,..... and also an auto focus is triggered at each shot ! Probably, the shooting process must be review and adapted ! Thanks for your observations. Anyway, it does not explain the difference of behavior between the V11 and the V12(Find optimal seam disabled and multiband blender instead of the default zero overlap. My main problem is that I want to use PTGUI on Linux and only the V12 has a dedicated binary for Linux.

Cheers

I will investigate what’s happening.
