when I run this command to execute the pts file ./PTGui -batch outmob.pts

but the problem is that few images do not have control points. So is there any command to ignore the unconnected control points? and generate the panoramas.

Hi Mobeen,

Are all your panoramas taken with approximately the same image
positions? In that case you can create a template:

Just stitch one of your panoramas manually in PTGui. When the result
looks good, go to Project Settings and under Batch Stitcher Actions,
enable these 2 checkboxes:

x Do Align Images and save the modified project
x Create the Panorama

and uncheck this box:

but only if enough control points found.

Then do File - Save Project As and save it somewhere.

Then, when you run -createproject, add a -template option to specify the
template you just created. PTGui will attempt to align the images with
control points. If this fails, it will fall back to the orientations
specified in the template.

Kind regards,

Hi
I am getting black patches in my panorama so is there way that  we can configure it to auto crop or ignore these black patches?

Mobeen,  Are the blank patches due to images being out of position owing to a lack of control points?  Are you shooting the panoramas in regular patterns using a panorama head (e.g. 2 rows of 6 images) or irregular with a handheld camera perhaps?  If you are being consistent in the way the panoramas are shot, using templates (as Joost suggested) ought to avoid blank areas occurring.

I am using 3 rows 10 images. so where ptgui feels that there are no control points it add black patches. I want to ignore that image instead of black patch. Is it possible?

Mobeen,  PTGui doesn't add the black patch.  The black area is there by default and is simply not being hidden by a properly positioned image.  This typically happens with large areas of blue sky, when no features for control points can be found.  Have you tried creating a template as described by Joost?  That will initialise the positions of all the images in their correct places before creating control points.  Any images without points should remain in position after optimization and so not leave a black hole.

Mobeen, Just a thought:  when you create your template project:  on the Project Settings tab in the Align Images section, check the option "Images are already roughly positioned" before saving the template.  You could check your template by starting a new project, load in a new set of images and then go to File->Apply template and check all looks well in the Panorama Editor window, with no holes.

Hi Mobeen,

Any areas not covered by source images will be left transparent by
PTGui. But the jpeg format doesn't support transparency (there's no
alpha channel), so all transparent areas will be rendered black.

The TIFF format does support transparency, so you may use this instead.

As John said, you might want to use a template where the images are
roughly pre-positioned. Then they will be in place even if there are no
control points.

The template should be made for the specific layout of your images.

It's very easy though: load your 30 images into PTGui and press Align
Images.

If there are any missing control points, add some by hand and run the
optimizer.

When the result looks good, go to Project Settings. Under 'Batch
Stitcher Actions', enable this checkbox:
'Do Align Images and save the modified project'

Then do File - Save As Template.

The template can be used in the Batch Builder.

If you are stitching from the command line, in PTGui Pro 13 beta you can do:

ptgui -createproject <templatename.pts> -template <image1.jpg>
<image2.jpg> ... -output <panorama.pts>

Mobeen,  If you can do File->Save project in PTGui for one of your 2 rows by 10 projects and supply a copy of this .pts file here, I will produce a template project for you.   It doesn't matter if there are a few black holes in the panorama (but not a whole row of them!).

Hi Mobeen,

You cannot add individual control points using the command line, I'm sorry.

What you can do is tell PTGui to generate control points. In your
project, under Batch Stitcher Actions, enable 'Do Align Images'.

Then when the project is processed using '-stitchnogui', PTGui Pro will
first generate control points.

For images without control points, PTGui will attempt to keep them
roughly in the position as specified by the template.
