The template should be made for the specific layout of your images.
It's very easy though: load your 30 images into PTGui and press Align
Images.
If there are any missing control points, add some by hand and run the
optimizer.
When the result looks good, go to Project Settings. Under 'Batch
Stitcher Actions', enable this checkbox:
'Do Align Images and save the modified project'
Then do File - Save As Template.
The template can be used in the Batch Builder.
If you are stitching from the command line, in PTGui Pro 13 beta you can do:
ptgui -createproject <templatename.pts> -template <image1.jpg>
<image2.jpg> ... -output <panorama.pts>
