When opening panoramas generated with PTGui in Google Photos, the images are not recognized as panoramic photos. As a result, Google Photos displays them as standard images rather than enabling the panoramic viewer.

In the following link i provide some demo files:
- The pano1.jpg was captured using the google camera app and it is recognized by the  Google Photos app as a panorama photo.
- The pano2.jpg was created using PTGui (captured using a DJI Air 2S) and is NOT recognized by the Google Photos app as a panorama photo.

I can also provide the original drone files if needed. Am i missing a setting in PTGui?

Kind regards,
Christoforos

Hi Christoforos,

$ exiftool -ProjectionType pano2.jpg
$ exiftool -ProjectionType pano1.jpg
Projection Type : equirectangular

So it appears that pano2 is not an equirectangular projection, I assumme
it is cylindrical. You must change to equirectangular projection for
gpano metadata to be embedded, and for Google Photos to recognize it as
such.

Kind regards,
