Will this lens create 360 panos? Will PTGUI be able to stitch those? Looking forward to test the lens on the R5 (evidently the only camera it works with right now).

I'm not sure. For stereoscopic panoramas it might be handy, but creating
stereoscopic panoramas is far from straightforward.

For regular spherical panoramas you would be wasting half of the sensor
and you would need to adjust your panoramic head sideways to eliminate
parallax.

Hi,

I've shot some footage with this camera. At first I was only going to use this to create a 180 deg video with it.

But I wanted to try to stich multiple stills shot with this camera as well (for use in Vista3D Pro for example).

Would Anyone know How to go about this? Prefferably the output would be two stiched images one for the left and another for the right eye.
I could always split the image, stich those two and then join them together again.

it is stated that: "
Support for single shot 360 degree cameras
PTGui now supports dual fisheye images from the Samsung Gear 360, Xiaomi Mijia Sphere and YI 360 cameras. These cameras produce a single image containing two circular images side by side. When loading such an image, PTGui will automatically add two source images for each of the circular fisheye lenses, and position them at opposite sides of the spherical panorama.
"
But i reckon that this is for a front and a back view and not a stereoscopic one.

If this isn't something that is possible at this time, how would I file a feature request for support for this lense?

Regards Gijs

Alternatively you can input each image twice and apply masks so that each image only shows one of the two alternate images.  Select individual circular crop position for one image.  But this is a very complicated business, and you need to take 16 or more shots around to cover the 360 degree view.  Tom Sharpless is the expert in this field and you should watch his tutorial at https://youtu.be/t5jfxSbd0cI , which explains the stitching process.

Hi Gijs,

Regarding stereoscopic panoramas please see 6.38:
https://ptgui.com/support.html#6_38

You could try by splitting your images yourself, and stitch those in PTGui.

Since this double lens produces two circular fisheye images, you would
in fact waste about 3/4 of your sensor pixels.

Stereoscopic panoramas, where the lens and camera are rotated, can be
taken much easier and with a higher resolution with only one fisheye lens.

So for panorama creation this lens is useless, unless you go for
stereoscopic 180° partial (hemispherical) panoramas.

For the price of this lens alone, you can get two cheap DSLRs with a
fisheye lens each and still produce higher resolution images.
