I've been frequently getting an error:
"Error writing JPEG file: Insufficient Memory (case 4)."
This is a panorama made from 30 3.6 MB images. The jpeg is supposed
to be 16344X8172 pixels.
the same error with 100% & 70% quality.
I have 3.24 GB RAM
How can I solve this?

I reduced the output image to 8000X4000 and that worked. But can I
get the full resolution?

Also it takes 37 minutes to create the panorama (Intel Core 2 CPU,
T7200 @ 2.00 GHz)

Hi Huck,

Please choose TIFF output for the time being, then convert to JPEG in
another application such as Photoshop.

Problem will be fixed.

Thanks Joost,
I tried that and it worked creating a .tif (535 MB!). When I used
this to Publish to Website it crashed the browser (I guess that is
what happened. It started to load in browser and then crashed.) Are
you interested in seeing the example?

I then used Photoshop to convert the .tif to a .jpeg (11.2 MB). The
browser still crashed.

What could be the problem?

What browser? The image might be too large to display directly in a
browser. If it's a spherical you need a player anyway. I suggest krpano,
since it has multi resolution support. That is, you need to provide the
image in multiple resolutions and krpano displays the resolution which
fits the chosen zoom level.

The browser is Internet Explorer 8. The player is the one that is
provided by PTGui in "Publish to Website". I gather it uses Flash 10,
but I'm not knowledgeable about how that part works.
I did a Quicktime .mov version from PTGui with the same resolution.
This one displays without problem.

Here is the file that Publish to Website won't display:
http://picasaweb.google.com/huckrorick1/Panorama?feat=directlink

It actually starts to display, rotates a bit and then halts with an
"!" in the center of the screen and no more panorama image.

Hi Huck,

It's simply too large to be published on the web this way.
You need to downsize the panorama to, say, 8000x4000 before publishing.

Or use a dedicated panorama viewer which supports partial downloading,
such as the new Pano2VR (still in beta I think?). By partial
downloading, the viewer only downloads the chunks of the panorama that
are visible at each time. The PTGui viewer will attempt to download the
full panorama before displaying it.

thanks.

Can I use photoshop to downsize the equirectangular image to
8000X4000?

Yes, of course. Any image editor would do...

Hi,
I recently got the same error again (PTGui Pro 9.0.4).
Did this get fixed?
In this case I am trying to produce an equirectangular jpeg of a partial panorama 235 horizontal 83 vertical, 11275x3988 pixels.
Do I need to reduce the size?  or output as a TIF?

Hi Huck,

No sorry, this is still occurring in the 32 bit version of PTGui. As a
workaround output in tiff format.
